Well to be fair it could, assuming of course that the data center is hit by lightning or flooded...
But I get what you mean.

That reminds me of this site made by tech guys that had all the stupid questions they get asked(especially when computers were new). One story was about how people thought viruses were airborne and locked virus infected floppy discs in rooms by themselves away from other floppys and they wore plastic gloves when handling them so they dont get infected lol

Don't forget PaaS. ;)

But the article is ridiculous indeed. While many of these services may be based on resources in the cloud, the services itself would better fit the buzzword 'web 2.0'. And although the name 'Cloud Computing' is now alread half a decade old, there still is no one definition for it.

So, by Citrix definition, if I upload photos to my webserver via FTP I'm using Cloud-based services ? What. the. hell. -.-

"an additional 17 percent have pretended to know what the cloud was during a first date"

People who try to impress their dates with fake knowledge about computer networking deserve everything they get. (Such as a lack of a second date)

Seriously though, that article really needs to stop saying "Cloud". It really doesn't need to be repeated once every single sentence.

51% of people would be right, since probably more people 'cloud compute' wirelessly than physically. Not always. but "can".

Considering how many people believe that dinosaurs existed at the same time as cavemen, that fire is an element, that the moon landing was a hoax, that Obama's birth certificate is faked...

Yeah, people will believe just about anything. I'm not surprised to find out that something relatively new in technology is poorly-understood.

ok, they asked some pretty stupid questions in that survey. If someone asked ME what "the cloud" is, with no context, which is apparently what they did, I'd probably say "the thing in the sky that makes rain". If they asked what "the cloud is" in relation to computers or technology, my answer would be much different. Honestly the article just seems like a "looooooooool, people don't know what cloud computing is, and here's our survey to prove it", combined with a terribly made survey.
