Guys, today thanks to the smart Touchwiz on S5 Mini, I've deleted over 200 of my images. I tried googling for like 2 hours, and found nothing. I can't connect my S5 Mini as USB Mass storage device to PC, only MTP or PTP. Can anyone please help me, how can I restore those images without rooting the phone?

Edit: I'm trying to recover data from Internal storage of device.

I'm not sure what you're reffering to. I don't back up my images to any cloud network like dropbox, google drive..

Dont worry, you can always get those porn images again, you just need to search for them.

Are you logged into Google's cloud?

If so your photos should be backed up iirc. I have two options on my HTC, Gallery which is everything on my phone, and Photos which is similar to the iCloud service

EDIT - Google Drive is the name of the base service I believe.

Try this

CNET users are pretty hard on reviews, if it's got a good following I'd use this on my phone if I had to.

You are trying to recover from your SD Card right now your phones internal memory or SIM?

Phone's internal memory. I guess I should have been more clear on that one. I'll edit description.

Edit: Tried that tool too, still doesn't detect the phone.

Have you tried these while USB Debugging/Developer Mode is enabled?

Some reading has found this though -
"As S5 uses MTP to transfer media files, all third-party applications can't read data from its internal memory directly. Rooting is necessary if you want to recover files from the S5 internal memory."

So you may be out of luck :(. I'd highly recommend using a Dumpster program and something like Google Drive or Dropbox in the future. Will prevent these things from happening so easily. I do not know why there is not a dumpster application built into Android OS honestly.

Yeah I did try with debugging on.

I know man.. I'm sitting here for like 2 hours trying to find solution and nothing. My phone is like less than 2 months old, and rooting would break my warranty. I don't want that to happen.

I would use cloud programs if I had proper connection, but my upload speed is around 0.4 mbs.

I've tried that, this is the exact reason why I tried asking here, when I plug in my S5Mini, it shows up like this.
I can't access that data with Recuva.

There must be a way of recovering your images, if they haven't been overwritten, try to search for advanced recovery apps.

I'm not sure where that link is supposed to lead..
I tried, many of those, around 10.. nothing seems to work because I can't get phone to load as a mass storage.

Well, you can always take the phone to a data recovery specialist (be prepared to pay for it, ofc), if they can't recover it nothing will.

  1. remove the microsd card from phone.
  2. insert into pc card reader
  3. use recovery software on pc

Lost data was on internal memory.

well, i dont think you get low level access to the internal storage without root.

even if you get access, there is a high chance you wont be able to recover the data, because the internal storage is also used as "ram", so even a sucessful recovery will probably only restore parts of your data.

so you better store images on the sd-card next time and do regular backups.
