Thanks to someone here who gifted me the first 3 games, i decided it was finally time to replay this game.
The DC version feels a bit sluggish, but i am deciding to stick to finish that version, however both games have recently the original versions added as DLC, the news is from 10 march, so it might be still new to some.

Broken Sword 1
Broken Sword 2

Tested the first and the originial uses the ScummVM version, second probably too.

Let's see what all the fuss about the Director's cut was about now...

I didn't know this and I usually prefer to play the originals. Thanks for the info :)

It's nice they added these. I didn't like the remasters and when I replayed both games a while back just used my original CDs.

They were patched one or two weeks ago and they added the classic versions. It's good news for me too.

OH, YES.
Imma play them again for the thousandth time β™₯
Remastered versions were still good in my opinion but somehow failed to transmit me the feelings I had when I played them on CD.
Those felt too much like mobile ports, maybe :S

Nice to hear that they offer the regular versions on Steam. On GOG the original versions have been included with the director's cut/remastered versions since the beginning, I think. It's why I bought the second one on GOG a while back (The first one I grabbed it when it was given for free).

The originals are better, a lot of George's jokes and comments were cut in the Director's Cut (duh) editions only to be replaced with more uninspired puzzles and boring scenes with Nico who isn't as witty as Georgie. So props to Revolution Software for finally providing the games in their original form. :)

Thanks for the news. I didn't know this either.
Have the originals, but marked the Dir Cut as Not Interested.
(Based on price and reviews of the "new" DC features).

I wonder if these require Steam, or if you can pull the data files and use them in ScummVM? I like the remasters okay, but I think it was a crime to screw up the beginning of the first game, replacing that iconic scene of George sitting outside a Paris cafe with Nico in some generic location.

Just checked the first, the original comes with and uses ScummVM.

In DC, the first two chapters are with Nico, then the third chapter starts with George at the cafe (where the original started) if that's what you mean.

Yes, that's what I meant. They should have left the opening scene of George as is and put Nico's new scenes in later.

Thanks for the info on ScummVM. So I should be able to move the game to my existing ScummVM, with all my other classic 90s adventures.

Why do we need the original version? We have the remake one.

Because remake one is focussed on tablets, BS1 even for the WII. And might be me but DC also runs sluggish.
In DC they changed the story a bit, and some just like the nostalgia of playing the originals.

Use -> Lamp post: "I considered climbing the lamp post, but it wasn't going to shed any light on the affair."
One of the many jokes that were cut from remakes. The director felt those jokes were lame, when they were actually good.

I think I will try to copy it to Raspberry Pi to play it in train or something. I did it with all of mine ScummVM games so far, so why not with this one.
