There's more to it than that though- It's not just opposition, but inaction as well. Knowing that it will exist, or could exist, then doing nothing to aid in its creation equally marks you as a target for it. So by talking about it openly without some sort of warning, you potentially doom anyone that just walks in the thread. It's better handled and explained by Kyle Hill. Everybody who clicks the right poll option should be safe though, the action being building a positive public perception of AI. Maybe. Or just create some giveaways, I'm sure future AI overlords will appreciate it. :)

Roko's Basilisk is a thought experiment where in the future, a malevolent AI comes to life and retroactively punishes those who opposed its existence in the past. What happens to SG with all the edited symbols in key drops, anti-bot measures in invite only giveaways, user scripts and so on?
