Last XCOM is awesome. Unfortunately Omerta is nowhere near it. It has its charm though.

I absolutely agree. Omerta isn't even a fraction of XCOM's awesomeness, but it is still good for a bit of fun.

+1 XCOM is fantastic and so much more than Omerta!

^ Thiss, don't waste your money on this game, the turn based part especially isn't worth it, you can give your goons different weapons and that's all the options you have to customize them.

Well technically there is a rudimentary levelling and perk system for your goons, you can give them new abilities and perks that enhance older abilities, but yeah.. that's it. Just weapons and perks. No armour or visual/addon customisation, it's a real let down.

Oh and my opinion is tempered somewhat by the fact that I got it for free from a good friend. Had I have paid €40 it then my opinion would be significantly more critical of the game's flaws.

Oh yea, forgot about those, but as far as i've seen you only level up during certain levels and not based on XP or something similar, and that's really the worst thing about this game i.m.o.

All event feel scripted, for instance you have no opposition whatsoever, you get attacked but only right after you complete certain goals.

And i've seen comments where people stated that it's probably going to get fixed with some dlc's but the whole mechanics of the game are just too basic, no balancing whatsoever, this happened to me almost every level: first mission pops up, i set up a bar and a brewery take over the district in about 20-30 min. and complete the first mission and all missions after that are instantly done since i already own all resources.

Nothing too unlock, achieve or win, what you see is what you get with this game and that's not enough im.o. to sell it for a AAA price.

I do have to agree that it's not worth €40, no chance. Halve that and you've got a decent little strategy game for the price, but €40 is too much for what little is on offer.

Actually you have an opposition in a form of police. You have random thugs attacking you (forcing you into a combat mission). Some jobs may result in a combat mission.

As for missions get completed instantaneously. Although I agree with them being easy achievable after you conquer the entire district, some of them require building a certain number of specific buildings which you may not have.

All in all, I pre-ordered the game and don't regret it.

The police isn't an opposition, it's more like a meter that fills up if you do to many high profile things like robbing a place, but they NEVER chase or arrest you, all you get to do is or buy them off or lose the game, the game is set in the prohibition era but you have no transport and liquor just magically appears in your bars, I expected things like car chases, buying and upgrading a fleet of vehicles to make sure you deliveries get delivered in time, dodge police and whatnot, oh and even those "random thugs attacking you" parts aren't random, if you look closely you will notice these events only take place after you progress trough the missions, like i said if you focus on the management part of the game, nothing happens untill you finish missions.

-edit- If you've bought the game without reading all the reviews i can understand that these things are not important to you, but a lot of people expected a lot more after all those reviews that compared it to xcom and tropico.

I usually don't read reviews, I don't like to spoil me surprises.

I haven't really payed attention but I don't think I did missions before some of the combat missions. Like I was just minding my own business buying properties and stuff and all of a sudden I'm told that I could crush a deal of a local gang or that someone is trying to steal from me.

No customization sucks, but what did you expect from a game that's set in Prohibition time? What armour could they possibly have back then?

It shouldn't be. I just bought some games from them and they weren't. I see no reason that would be.

IMO not worth 40€. 10€ max. It's quite short and easily gets boring...

I've heard, that it's a bad game. You play Monopoly with yourself and the turn based combat is fucked, because doorways have 360° cover. Look here, you will hit the guy right in front of you with 60% probability...

  • It's not fucked up, it's just different and not very deep.
  • Doorways don't give you cover, character on screen is just shooting without aiming with a weapon that shots in a cone.
  • Just because there are no rival gangs on the map doesn't mean there are no enemies, obstacles and difficulties.

In the EU Steam Store, say that in this region it's not available.

There is no EU store. Every country has it's own. In Germany costs 45€.

To all 3 of you who claimed that: Do you have any proof? As far as I know there are only 11 separate Steam stores. And there IS a "EU" store, but it only covers west and north Europe, with the exceptions of Germany and Britain, which have their own stores. East and south Europe is covered by the "EU2" store, the former members of the Soviet Union have the "UA" store and Russia gets its own one. The other stores are US, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Mexico.

Same question as above.

1 decade ago

Because "EU" stands for European Union, not Europe.

By "EU" store, I thought he meant all of Europe. I understand not every country has its own store.

For those from Spain, there's a spanish physical+digital edition by FX (awesome content as always) for 20€. So don't buy any digital version which also lack the language.

The digital copies from FX are included on the physical retail. It's an access code.
You can get more info on their site or in their Facebook but I can't find the info they sent to my email.

That game is so bad... It's definitely not worth 40€. I would give max 5€ for it. It looks much better in videos but when playing it's like "Meh... Gonna go outside and ride my bicycle better". Tried it out, didn't like it because it's really slow and uninteresting, won't buy it.

It's a good game, most reviews were a bit harsh with it, wouldn't buy it for 40€ though. 10 - 20€ is ok.
