Although I'm sure she'd find the gift sweet, I'm don't think she'd want to sit through two plays holding a bunch of flowers. I'd warn your grandfather about her hearing difficulties to avoid any awkwardness or embarrassment if he tries to talk to her and she can't hear him. Don't try to impress her, just be yourself as you would with your friends, except show her a little affection during the date (i.e. touch her arm gently during conversation) to avoid the friend zone. Be a good listener and try to make sure she does most of the talking rather than talking about yourself. Be relaxed and comfortable and she will be too. Good luck!

I agree, no flowers. Flowers are for when you pick her up at her place, you give flowers when she opens the door. She will want to put them in some water, not carry them all over town.
Make sure you don't drop any "backing down" lines during the night about how it's great to meet a new "friend" or anything along those lines. She needs to know you view her romantically and not platonic. If it seems to be going well you can always share an armrest/hold hands during the play; physical contact is important but don't overdo it.

My advise is ,nice flowers that look and smell nice , some good food ( you can do pizzas &other yummy but not healthy food etc later in your relationship but get some properly cooked food )
Thing is ,let me tell you about a friend of mine.(Old friend,argued with him because of some game stuff and a moron friend of his,well he had more moronic friends on skype anyway point is => ) he kept thinking my suggestion of a nice movie(s) /tv show(s) & food like a pizza etc and flowers ofc start with flowers ,he thought that ideea was bad. SO i raged and told him "So wtf do you kids nowadays have in mind to gift at first date/dates? Iphone 4?DAFUQ !",something like that,in our language xD . (im 23 btw ) .

As for her problem with hearing,in-time you should advise her to check some specialists see if it can be healed by surgery or maybe audtive machine those thingies you plug in ears idk it's english name. My grandma worked for phone central for 39 years so she's almost deaf on one ear.

Good luck! Also, flower is always a good choice. As previously said, women love flowers. Or at least the gesture, you giving them flower. Just don't overshoot it at the first time by giving her half of a flower garden. Plus it sounds a little weird, but admitting that you're a little nervous about this date won't ruin your chances. Because hell, what does say more to a girl that " I'm so happy to be with you I can't even think straight, that's why I'm a little nervous " ?

and I'm nervous. I'm 23, she's 21.
I only have my permit cause I can't afford a car (college) and just started learning to drive a month ago, so I'm picking her up with my grandfather (his vehicle). She knows and thinks it's cute "cause I'm embarrassed". We're gonna get dropped off by a nice place I picked out for lunch and then walk to the nearby theatre and see two plays (she doesn't know the latter). She's deaf/hard of hearing and my grandfather doesn't know, but he's a good guy and I know he won't think much of it, but still. Maybe it's just me trying to pick out problems that aren't even real. I also don't know what to wear...should I get some flowers before picking her up? I don't know! ;_;
