My mouse is dying. Tried CS:GO online for the first time and yes, I suck. But my dying mouse is part of the problem. After 12 (yes, twelve) years, my trusty Logitech is finally ready to go to the silicon heaven.

Any recommendation for cheap, decent quality (most important) mouse? No backlight, optical, no drivers (I'm on Linux), no rubber grips. 800 - 1200 dpi. I'm fine with just the wheel and two buttons. Max. around 20 Euro.

Thank you.

EDIT: Thank you all. I'll think it over and buy either Logitech M90 or Zowie ZAxx (probably Zowie). Also, many of you are now on my whitelist.
EDIT 2: Zowie ZA11. As usual, it will not fit the original budget, but after reading all the posts, I think it's worth the money.

I usually go for A4Tech mouses, they are cheap and are reliable.
Edit:
This is the one I'm using now. I don't know is it a good choice for competitive online shooters, but I like it. Plus, it's under 20 euro.

Thanks. It's not available here, but I did found a similar (?) one: N-708X V-Track.

The exterior is 100% the same, but I'm not sure about the optics. Mine has no hole and the laser isn't visible, I'm not sure V-Track is the same thing, so I can't say is it any good.

I tend to contradict, I've been using 10 dollar mouses for quite a while now, and they are well-suited for pretty much everything. Yes, the bad side is that you will have to change them every 1-2 years, but when it's under 10 bucks, does it really matter?

We're talking competitive FPS, I'm a regular CS:GO player and have previously played 1.6 and battlefield 3.

Do you have side buttons?
I can't live without them and it looks like there are actually cheap, good options if you want a simple 3 button mouse like m90.

Yup, two side buttons but never use them, I'm quite used to not needing them. I guess I'll use them at some point. xD

Yes. I want one that will last. Like my BT58 :-)

Quality and longevity are my main goals. Cheap, simple mouse that will last. Like my BT58. And I don't like Logitech RX250 (feels like a cheap copy).

Well if you don't mind paying a bit more I recommend you Zowie FK1 or FK2. They are identical except FK2 is slightly smaller and 5 grams lighter. Also get a steelseries QcK mousepad with the mouse.
It is a simple, high quality, no drivers gaming mouse.

ThanksI looked at ambidot's link and I think Zowie ZAxx will be best. SteelSeries QcK looks perfect, thank you for the tip.

You should consider your mouse grip when picking a mouse. I think ZA is a bit better for palm grip while FK models are designed mainly for clawgrip

I did. That's why I forgot about the originally suggested FK2 and will most probably buy ZA.

I play just for fun. I don't even mind losing... The Mionix is too high-tech - "32bit ARM Processor"? In a mouse? I remember having worse CPU in my PDA. And again - Linux? This probably needs drivers.
Zowie looks nice, except for the price. And 85 g? Wow, so light, I like that. What's the difference between FK2, ZA12 and EC2-A? They look the same to me...

Thank you, ZA seems best for me. One more question - does the mouse (wheel or logo) glow? I do understand that the sensor itself glow, of course :-)

I'm using an Acme MS12. 3 main buttons, 2 side, plus a DPI regulator. It cost me about 6 euros. It's fairly light and it looks fairly cool.

if you don't mind laser mice, check Gigabyte M6900
When you get used to additional buttons (+ tilt), you can't live without them :D

ps needs drivers to set up key-remaping, but after that it works without them anywhere due to integrated memory chip :D

How long will it last? I don't trust Gigabyte on build and component quality, sorry.

Your requirements are so low that any cheap mouse by company that's known for quality (Logitech?) will do. You could totally get a better mouse, at least get an ergonomic one, your old one doesn't look comfy at all.

I had an ergonomic mouse (gaming - Asus, maybe?) with like 5 buttons, went back to simple mouse :-)

Edit: I'm weird.

My personal favorite cheap mouse is Logitech M100, as a left handed person iy can be a problem to get at decent mouse, but the M100 is equally suited for right and left hand, cheap(at least in my country) and for me it last about 5 years, and no i don't always use it in a gentle way :)

Thanks, I was thinking about M90 - the same, but without tilting wheel. After reading all the replies, I'll probably buy Zowie ZAxx.

I have found the tilt wheel useless 99% of the time, and the 1% of the time it is useful, I forget I have it.

I have it at work, agree, it's useless. And one can always use "shift" key.

Or press and hold the mouse wheel to all-way scroll. I got a mouse with tilt (first one ever) because it was a mouse that was regular $30 on sale for $15 and price erroring at $5. Not a good mouse though, randomly dies, requiring the battery to be pulled and replaced (same battery, and the battery tests as good). Logitech M325, and by default, Tilt doesn't scroll it just works like the web browser's back and forward buttons. Need to use the driver, and manually reconfigure it to scroll. Regardless, I don't have a recommendation for which mouse, just not that mouse!.

I'm on Linux as well, and can say that most Logitech mouses don't need extra drivers unless they have extra buttons

How... How many buttons? It's a keyboard not a mouse!

12 buttons on the side. Got it when I was into hardcore WoW raiding since I have joint issues and using keyboard for keybinds was too painful :/. It was a more of a quality of life thing for me.

Oh. Instead of using it, I'll end up staring at the mouse trying to figure it out (if I figure out the Linux drivers first) :-D
Well, everybody's different and I understand your needs. But I'm more of a "keyboard guy".
