Am I the only one who receives at least two friend request every day?
That's obviously some kind of scam, it's all fake accounts with no games in their accounts.
But what's going on?

You're not the alone. They're obviously bot accounts. Level 0 Private profile.

As soon as I accept them, they send me a message with phishing links or asking me to rep+ them for a trade site like dota2lounge and promising a key if I do it, even though I don't even use dota2lounge -_-

Actually, all accounts that are set to private are seen as level 0.

I agree it looks fishy and scam-ish, but level is not a good verifier of whether a private account is legit.

I don't, but that may have to do with my lack of activity and having my status usually "offline"..maybe? I did use to get ample of random group request though.

It's been rampant this month.. Always the same; private profile, steam level 0-1, no common friends or group, animated profile pic. They always get the same reaction as well, "ignore".

Same here. It is time for Steam to put in requirement to SEND friend request to level 3 to 5. So that If you have a new friend on Steam, you can go ahead and add your friend but s/he can't request you or anyone else.

I have steam for 4 years now and I haven't recieved even 1 friend request from scammers or bots so far. Maybe it's because I have my profile set to private so that they can't see my inventory or I'm just a forever alone guy, not even bots want to be my friends. xD

It's the method valve uses to make sure the account's owner is joining in other computer.
You receive a code in your email and then you use that code to sing in.

Well, blocking low level steam newbies(some of low lvl guys is newbies or players who don't interested on steam at all)is also rude. But blocking lvl 0 private guys with low name history(bots have none,1 or bit of name change)is THOSE that i block. Along with individuals. If they dont say anything(if they online), i remove them then block if needed.

I have only 1 name change.. A lot of name changes usually makes me think Im dealing with a kid. Prejudiced, I admit!
