You might have had the game on run after downloaded and cards will drop and playtime will go up.

On a more serious note (not that ghosts aren't super serious business), run the game now and select Continue or check for any quick- or autosaves.

Sometimes the game is running in the background.Happened to me a couple of times. Just kill it from the task manager.Dont think you are h4CkEd sunshine.

I ran HL2 for the cards once, but you don't get any achievements from just having it running without playing, & yours wasn't even open...maybe it just randomly started in the background...

i usually let my games play themselves, can't expect them to all sit in cyberspace doing absolutely nothing until the player gets back.

Seriously though, either Steam screwed up bigtime, or someone else with access to your PC and/or your Steam account has been playing the game.

Do you live alone, maybe someone opened it? Or maybe you accidentally set the game to start when the download finish.

my best guess is a friend pranking you, if they ever had access to your computer to be able to install software for remoting in.
my second best guess is you're trolling.
third is someone in your house is more adept at computers than you realize.
fourth is you have a serious memory problem.
fifth is hacked.
and sixsixsixth is what practically everyone else is saying: ghosts or hyperintelligent (demon) cats (you have to play through a decent amount of the game to get the two mentioned achieves).

Once after playing a game on steam - I believe it was Civilization IV - I quit game and left steam running as usual. It was friday, I had computer running for a night download, on saturday I did some side job for the whole day, was too tired to play, so I just watched a movie, left computer on for another night. On sunday I was working till late evening and when I finished, I wanted to play and then I noticed steam still showing I'm in game.
It turned out I scored 40h of gameplay just because game didn't quit correctly and left zombie process running.
