I was a kid when Star Wars hit theaters and before it was ever referred to as "A New Hope", getting to see it with my brothers after a long day of having fun in a waterslide park. The pure magic of seeing that on-screen made it among the most memorable summers for me, and there there were all the toys and stuff to tide us over until Empire and eventually RotJ.

Not a huge Star Wars fan but practical effects have always been a lot more fun and interesting to me than CGI so I'd have to say the OG films.

The original movies are still the best, however I personally think the clone wars is a pretty interesting era.

The Holiday Special! Chewy's son Lumpy is in it! And judging by the porn Chewie's dad watched, he's into non-Wookie nookie! Carrie Fisher was so coked up she tried to sing!

7+ should actually been called the disney universe era. Considering it will no longer follow the same structure

I wish i never saw 7, ruins it for me. Doesn't even feel like Star Wars.

Can't understand why so many love it. But each to their own :)

Me neither, but i do love to see George Lucas pissed all the time ever since Disney threw him out of his own series :P

Because it doesn't have JarJar or Child Anakin in it. Im sure that would be reason enough to prefer 7 over 1 lol. Unless mr Greather you are telling me you find JarJar Binks acceptable :P

Not at all, hes annoying.
However. Jar jar would have made it feel more like a star wars film xD

Why is there a map to Luke?, He went away into hiding, fair enough.... So now its this big thing.... This map, leads to Luke....... ok then.

The entire plot of ep 7 is just bad.

(Canon only) (Thank goodness nonsense like Luuke Skywalker (seriouusly?), cloned Emperor, OP superweapons (Sun Crusher anyone?) left and right, the Holiday Special, Ewok stories, Luke's many lost lovers, angsty Solo kids (oh wait...), Mace Windu the premier BAMF of the Jedi Order getting owned by a random dude who came out of nowhere repeatedly, Iridonian vs. Zabrak arguments, oddities like noncanon Nightsisters, Yuuzhan Vong, and wyrwolves are gone. It's too bad we lost things like Mara Jade, Outbound Flight, the Han Solo origins, Starkiller, the escape of Boba Fett (or did we?), the Jedi Academy, Kyle Katarn, The Old Republic Era, etc, but at least we still have the Republic Commandos, Onderon, the Falleen, Selkath, and Mandalorians.

Pre-the Phantom Menance era (many years after the establishment of the Galactic Republic, shortly BY) is probably really nice, when all the known worlds are doing relatively well. the Jedi's are still around, and the SW galaxy was probably like a future fantasy dreamland at the time, without major conflicts other than local crime and such (and Plagueis in the background doing something with young Sheev) (;_; I just want my Qui-Gon back and for Dooku to still be buddies with everyone). The Clone Wars time period is really interesting-we get to see manufactured organic soldiers versus manufactured inorganic soldiers (with third parties sprinkled throughout) and how each system, planet, race interact and cope with the war, and how the Jedi fall into the trap (not just Order 66-the Jedi became complacent (and arrogant-see Yoda in the Prequels and the Yoda arc in Season 6 of the Clone Wars) and ignorant and lost their way in participating in war) laid by Sidious over time. We also get to see many different cultures and characters (highlight: Ventress-see the Clone Wars and Dark Disciple, Hondo, and Ahsoka. Lowlight: Grievous and Greedo). The reign of the Galactic Empire before A New Hope was sort of bland, with everything feeling subdued and dreary, but rebellious forces gradually gathered in numbers and power to challenge the Empire (Rebels TV show, Rogue One), and Maul, certified badass Tarkin (see Tarkin), certified Terminator Vader (see Lords of the Sith and comics), as well as Thrawn play important roles. The Galactic Civil War kicked things back up into gear, and we actually see a genuine struggle by the inhabitants of the galaxy rather than a manufactured conflict with an ulterior goal. Then came the New Republic and the ragtag remnants of the Empire, with Gallius Rax doing something important we don't know about yet (Lost Stars+Battlefront+Aftermath). The New Republic, after it settled down a bit was a clusterflock and even worse than the last Republic was at its end. The Sequels era is fun unexplored territory and introduces a lot of potentially new concepts and characters. It sucks that not many people believe that the Force, the Jedi, and the Sith are real anymore, though.
Extra question: What does the balance of the Force really mean? Is it the Light side (order) without the Dark (chaos) (supported by Lucas) (weird, since Light represents individuality and freedom for the masses while the Dark is the opposite, or the same amount of Light and Dark (sort of supported by the situation with the Force Wielders on Mortis and Atollon)?

An Asogian was able to arrive on Earth in the latter half of the 1900's. The human it came into contact with had Star Wars figures. It also recognized Yoda's species. Star Wars (4+5+6+1+2+3+Clone Wars+7+R1+8+Solo+9+Fett) was a series of documentaries all along. Disney shut down Disney Infinity to continue it in The Avengers and Star Wars crossover, Avengers: Infinity Star Wars confirmed!

Old Republic :D Well the ones Bioware and Obsidian made in the beginning were good. The new ones, well at least the intro movies are good.

The originals had special effects and visuals unseen in film before. People would look at the Death Star and mouths gaped. Nowdays you'd need something out of this world (new audio system, special FX tech) to wow audiences.

Without Kyle Katarn, the rebels would never had the Death Star plans!!!

All the more reason to NOT see the new Rogue One movie.

Kyle Katarn was my favorite character in the Star Wars universe and now Disney is just shitting all over the fans and the original canon

I prefer an era where both the jedi and sith were new/just starting out and not warring; and there was still exploration and inventions abound.

The era all 7 of the movies take place in, just doesn't seem fun to be in, because war + both the sith and jedi are pretty low in numbers.

A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi will always be my favorites.
All the others, despite being big onscreen "spectacles", seemed hollow and forced to me.

I'd say the era from the Star Wars: The Old Republic mmo, or maybe even before that (star wars: the old republic is really good at story telling, depending on how you play it, it's way better than the movies, and I really liked the movies XD the only things I know of the era before that are from stories within star wars the old republic, but they are interesting at least)

If we talk about movies, originals. Or maybe even "empire strikes back".

New movie, the 7, was a complete boring shit. "remaster" material just to please an old and "obsesed" (in the good way) audience. Kinda like the grapes, in South Park.

I feel Kyle Katarn's saga (Dark forces, Jedi Knight and Jedi Knight 2: Jedi outcast. Videogames) to be a nice continuation after the events of 'Return of the jedi' or, at least, between 6 and 7, however, Disney doesn't have any plans to make Katarn canon and I don't think they will be.

KOTOR 1 is another kind of remaster, is Ep4 but another time, another characters... However, it works... It works so well its just what the most hard fanbase of Star Wars is asking. Tv Series, movies... Anything... About the old republic.

KOTOR 2 is so special, so dark, so "different" to the star wars setup it could be (if its doing right) not only a good SW movie/series but also a good Sci-Fi material in general.
