Oh how I suffer because of this. I'm seriously considering asking a friend (I mean an actual personal friend) in the $ zone if I could send them money through paypal and have them buy me the games as gifts.

Yup, because Dead Space 3 and Battlefield 3 were much more likely to be bundled.

I think Humble Origin Bundle proves that ANYTHING can be bundled.
Or you can just wait for it to be 75% off next year.

Come on, lets face it. EA were in on the bundle games when they released their own EA Indie games pack on steam last year.
I bet they paid humble bundle for the privilege of getting their origin servers destroyed by people trying to add broken sims 3 keys.
At least EA's live web support monkeys got a good finger workouts this week.

Piracy came first, then low prices followed in an attempt to stop the piracy. Piracy rate is so high mostly because most Russians literally cannot afford games at normal prices. It's not like most other people that pirate because they don't feel like paying or don't feel like the dev deserves money, but they still want to play the game.

+1
I myself used to be a huge pirate, stopped pirating completely immediately when I was able to afford buying games.

"...and my dad wouldn't add money to my account just so I could deal with some shady traders for cheaper prices."
This is why you do not understand cost-of-living. It's not a jab at your age, I simply doubt you have realized the concept yet. It will play an important role when you decide when and where to work/live.

So true.
I also want to thank the OP because today she has created two different topics that could be summed up with a simple statement: Hi Everyone I'm 13 yo and my world is a mess! (My dad doesn't give me enough money to buy games, and I'm sad cuz some silly fans "could have" committed suicide.)
Thanks vcvc8 :)

I'm a guy.
I never said my dad pays for my games, I pay 100% of my games, he just uses his credit card and I pay him in cash since I don't have my own credit card. I just said he wouldn't want me to deal with shady traders.
I'm 14 (almost 15).
That post was trolling in order to pass you guys some retarded "news" I saw somewhere else.

I don't care if you don't care, I wasn't talking to you, was I?
He isn't buying the game. I pay him ON the spot, it's not a lone, it's my money and I'm gonna get a chargable Visa soon so I can have freedom with my cash.
I really am almost 15, you're just gonna have to deal with it, it says nothing about how mature I am.
I have made more friends here than what I thought I would (which was originally 0, I just came here to win games and do nothing but was surprised by the community (for the better).

I'm not sure if this is true everywhere, but Rome 2 is cheaper in retail stores (41USD, free shipping and with language support here) throughout Europe. So it's a much cheaper alternative than buying from GMG, Steam or any other digital retailer.

It's less about average income and more about what (they believe) people are willing to pay.

Buying games from the Russian store when you don't live in Russia will get your account banned on Steam, JFYI
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, at least in the EU it is completly legal if you do not buy them to sell them again. That would be illegal. But if you buy them from Russia with the will to use it yourself (and actually activate it on your account) you are fine.

It always amazes me that people actually admit to or promote the use of VPNs and smurf accounts to take advantage of the russian discounts illicitly when their steam account profiles could easily be linked back here.
Anyways, reported you on Steam. Enjoy your ban.

People who do this usually buy from the Russian storefront, and then sell them for near-full price. Once valve smartens up to it, all the games that were bought this way were removed from all accounts tied to them, the buyers are screwed out of a game, and the scammer only loses their account and gets to keep all their profits.
This is a serious problem that needs to be rooted out with as much prejudice as possible, and everyone owes it to the community as a whole to help in that regard.

Yeah no, that was never what I implied, but shit like this should not be promoted. You only accomplish to reinforce the entitled gamer stereotype by letting promotions of such seedy practices like this slide.
There is something very scummy about talking about gaming the system in a community like this with an altruistic and generous intent.

We have more rights in the US. If you want to be gay, sure, many will hate you, but at least you're not killed, like you could be in Russia. If you want to criticise the government, go ahead, they probably won't make you disappear. Enjoy less child trafficking, a higher GDP, and overall better quality of life because that's why we have higher prices.

Gun violence and racism are bigger concerns than game prices.

what the fuck?
more rights = higher game prices?
gay rights = higher game prices?
well fuck me then Germany should price their stuff at twice the price of US. (not from germany or us btw). Its much safer, and their gay rights are much more prominent than that of USA.

Don't worry, soon every big publisher will put Russian lock on their games and there will be no need to check it since you won't be able to buy anything.
Don't you love globalization and companies using it 100% but blocking customers from doing same thing...
Comment has been collapsed.
well, i like them to globalize. Otherwise many of the current games would just not exist. And I would not care if i had to pay 7,50€ for an AAA game in summer sale instead of russian 5€. I mean, if i CAN then i DO it, but if i would not be able to I would still be happy with the good steam prices.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I'm more irked about $60 vs $30 for new games and whole Valve/publishers saying "hey, good thing there's globalization so we can put games in Russia" which is followed by "time to block games in Russia because customers noticed globalization and want cheaper games".
Comment has been collapsed.
you could just wait a month and then get it for 30$ in some sale...made by globalization...

It's a healthy obsession, isn't it? If a game in RU costs 5 dollars and 20 in the US and can be played anywhere, what are you losing? I don't see the problem.

I just can't help it ever since I discovered it in the Summer sale, Russian Steam is so much cheaper.
Now when ever I want to buy something I can't help not look at the Russian price. I'm currently thinking of buying Rome 2 Total War but I'm having doubts since it's gonna be the start of the school year and I'm not sure if I'll play it much, although I have Shogun 2 for 2 years and played it over 100 hours... Anyway, I looked at the Russian Price for Rome 2, Holy shit, it's only 999 rubles, which is about 30 USD, while in the US it costs 60. This is a crazy big difference, and I can't help but feel bummed over having to spend 60 USD while Russians get it easily for 30 USD and use their prices to make tons of profits... I don't wanna go through the trouble of getting 15+ TF2 keys and finding a trader to do it, and my dad wouldn't add money to my account just so I could deal with some shady traders for cheaper prices.
I'm just addicted to looking at the Russian Steam before buying the game, and not only does it bum me when I don't buy a game, it bums me even more if I end up not buying the game waiting for a cheaper price.
