Well, it seems Microsoft its going wild. They want to implement the Telemetry feature in Win7 and Win 8.1 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3068708
Good luck implementing shit in my PC Microsoft, I got your updates disabled :3
This is mainly an advice for those who have auto updates enabled and don't like Telemetry.
And /s=sarcasm, I had problems before with sarcasm so that's why I prefer to make it super obvious.

EDIT: AS MrWubbleStein POINTED OUT, THIS INFO CAME A BIT TOO LATE, THIS UPDATE IS FROM EARLY JUNE LOL, SO IF YOU INSTALLED UPDATES RECENTLY YOU BETTER CHECK THAT OUT, THE UPDATE YOU NEED TO UNINSTALL IS kb3068708, OR YOU CAN DISABLE TELEMETRY IN YOUR CONTROL PANEL.

I thought I got my grammar good this time. Although you can use my dickpic for your guitar if you want... jk I will correct that error.
As for Telemetry
"

Telemetry

Telemetry refers to the data we collect about your app when it's running on customers' computers. If you enable this feature in your Windows Store developer account, your app will automatically send info back to Microsoft about how often it has been launched, how long it has been running, and whether it has experienced an error such as crashing or encountering a JavaScript exception. We collect this info for each app, analyze and summarize it, and provide reports in your Dashboard. You can choose to enable or disable telemetry data collection at any time.

It tracks app usage, ignore that about Windows Store developer account, it applies to normal users too, not just for developers.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh967787.aspx

Edit: Fuck, I forget I can't correct poll answers.

Yeah, I hate how google forces their apps in Android. Even if you root your device Google makes the apps dependent to other apps, so if you want to use X app you need all the other apps, very clever and obnoxious. And if you read the permissions that those apps have, haha even telemetry seems nothing.
And you are right, its almost impossible to be totally anonymous, it requires a special Linux distro and a lot of knowledge and effort.

Better check in your control panel to disable telemetry, it seems this update was from early June, so maybe you already have it installed, in Win 7 you can do that by gong to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center\Change Action Center settings.
Or you can uninstall the kb3068708 update from your system and you are done. Credit goes to MrWubbleStein for this info.

You are little late with the warning. This update went out in early June as a recommended update. Most people probably already have this. I would not recommend turning off automatic updates. Does your System use DOS, or Apple Software? If so, then you're already screwed.

Microsoft and Apple Inc. both embeded Tracking Software in their base Programing,
and it Relays all your dirty little secrets directly to the Government Every time you
Connect to the Internet.

If you want a Computer that does'nt already Automaticly leak all of your Secrects to the
Government, you might try Linux, but even then, unless you're a Computer God that can
Write all your own software, somebody is likely to get your Data Anyway.

Many of the more advanced Games have Tracking Software embeded in them, and
Steam is basicly one big Tracking Program.

Do you Download your games from Steam? If so, then you're already screwed!

Let's get realistic. You're chances of Hiding any of this Information from the Government,
and Big Business are about 0%.

They Made your Computer Parts, they made your Software, and They WILL do whatever
they feel like with your Data.

If you Really don't want them getting that Data, you either need to Never Connect to the
Internet, or just Never use a Computer!

What? Who the hell says you need to be a computer god to use Linux lol, you made me laugh. I can use Linux (Debian distros) and I suck at computers. And as for writting all your software by yourself...ummm, have you ever heard about Open Source Software? Linux use that...

I never said you need to be a Computer God to use Linux.

You need to be a Computer God if you want to keep the Government out of your Computer.

To Keep the Government out, you basicly need to Write ALL of your own Software.

Do you Write all of the Games you Play? If not, then your already Screwed.

Any File Larger then 100Mb is capable of containing Tracking Software, and Most of them Do.

If you think Avoiding 1 update will Protect your Data, your Dead Wrong.

Remember back around 2000 there was some Talk of going after Microsoft as a Monopoly?

Then they just stopped. You ever wonder Why? It's because the Government likes things just
fine the way they are, and wants Microsoft to continue supplying them with Data.

You might think Apple would be immune, but in point of fact, the Government would've shut
them down a long time ago if they were'nt supplying Data as well.

You might think that it's big Businees that wants your Data, so they can "Customize" Ads for you.

LMAO. That's exactly what the Government wants you to think, but they're ones who Do it.

Oh certainly, you'll never find a "Government" agency responsible for it, but that's called
Plausible Deniability.

They "Contract" out all of the initial Software Work, then sit back, and let the Data roll in.

When they're satisfied that YOU, are not a Threat to National Security, they then sell your Data
to all of the Companies, for Penny's per personal Profile.

There's not much you can do about it either, except not Using the Internet, or a Computer.

It's Beautiful. It'd be about 10 Stories tall, if it Were'nt underground, and It thinks a Trillion times faster then the Human Brain.

I'm sure you get that. For anyone else that might Read this, that means, the Government has a Computer that's 1,000,000,000,000 Times Smarter then a Human.

Thinking faster than a human brain does not equal smarter. My 20-yo CPU was doing calculations faster than the greatest math savants of the world, yet it still wouldn't have been able to form a coherent sentence in written form by itself.

By the way, that rumour of the NSA computer is so old it was even in Digital Fortress. And even there the writer could only think of one application, brute-force password hacking. Just because you have a computer that can do 700 exaflops it doesn't mean it will overtake the world, it means it can guess your 32-character long password so an agent can read the mail you sent to your mom.
Something the government could already do in the 1800s if they wanted to.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Your absolutely right. The 1st calculators were faster then Humans, yet limited in their ability to do anything other then Calculate.

And no, I don't Believe a self Aware AI is watching Us. As for the NSA's Use of Super Computers, it's openly Acknowledged that they do it.

The Number of people in the World has grown from about 2 Billion when Computers were first invented, to over 6 Billion, and more and More Countries are entering the Modern age, and the Poor Computers at the NSA spend all day Processing all of the Data fed into them in order to find the vital information in the mountain of Data they have.

No single Human could ever hope to Sort through all of the Messages just like this Post, that appear everyday all over the Planet, in a Day, or even a Year, but a Computer can do it in
"Real Time" Monitoring Every communication, from around the World as it's Happening.

I don't think Computers are watching us.
I think the People that payed for the Computers are watching us.

The computer is just a Tool, albeit a sophisticated one.

The Large Data base that they use. The Big one they Keep underground, stores all the Data going back to Files from Before there were such a thing as computers.
It used to Cover 23 Square acres in Virginia, Now it fit's below one Square Block in Maryland.
The Size of it isn't because of it's Ability, it's So the Cooling System can Keep it from Frying.

You are talking about the Echelon system, or more like the slightly frighteningly lunatic conspiracy theory version of it.
The existence of the system is far from being secret. And also the system's existence means pretty much nothing, since even the US admitted that sure, they actually see everything, but it still needs humans to shift through all the positive hits, so even if you casually call your friend to discuss the details of how you plan to smuggle a nuclear device into Washington DC, the chances of the secret service actually realising they heard it, is slim enough to have a chance to actually pull of that stunt. Assuming such an operation wouldn't need absolutely anything that may raise suspicion, which is, of course, unrealistic. Plots are not discovered because a tower-sized supercomputer tells them, but because eventually the lot of small signs reach a point where it becomes too obvious. And even an old-fashioned detective's nose can do that, just maybe not on a global scale.

Fyi : http://sensorstechforum.com/nl/uninstall-windows-updates-kb3068708-kb3022345-and-fix-errors/

I had both KB's on my system and I uninstalled them both (kb3068708-kb3022345)

TL DR: update 3068708 is a renewed release of update 3022345. Both updates can be and are used by Microsoft to " phone home " data collected on the systems these updates are installed on.

EDIT: There's a good chance that after uninstalling these 2 updates that Windows Update will offer them again but one can counter this easely by hiding updates kb3022345 and kb3068708.
