Suggestion:Add a "Donate" Menu Item for the "Support" Dropdown Menü

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty sure that at least SG users who regularly create Giveaways are able to give a small donation for the Steamgifts Website via Paypal (for example).I'm not asking for a special Status here just wanna help keep this Site running :-)

What is your opinion ?

I'd happily donate a little from time to time and wouldn't want special status either. The thing is, I think there's a danger it could create drama and accustations of special treatment even where there wasn't any by people convinced there was.

Someone goes on alucky win-streak: it's because they're a donator. Someone gets a ticket answered quickly - it isn't because there just happened to be lots of support staff answering tickets at that time, it's because they donated. Someone thinks a person gets treated leniently after breaking the rules but without knowing the full details that would show it was actually fair treatment - it's because they donated.

If no one knows you're a donator or you will not be named as such by name who should then complain even if you have a lucky streak ? I already said that I don't want any special treatment just because I'm donator.

We're on the internet, conspiracy theorists are never far away, lol. The very presence of donations could make some people suspicious. Then there's the fact that we both mentioned we'd like to donate on this thread - someone might find it and then accuse us of getting favouritism even if we didn't actually donate in the end.

I'm undecided on the whole thing and didn't vote because of this. I'd like to but at the same time I see those drawbacks. Saw a thread talking about not usung adblock here and people were talking about donations to give thanks on there as well.

I think one could implement donations and let the people get (double ?) the value donated gain on cv.
.Pros:

  • It would be an incentive to donate
  • it clearly shows that one can level up with money one's donating and that's it (no shadow business)

Cons:

  • People would call it P2W cause one can join high level GA by paying for it (But it would be easier to level up by giving away games that are on a discount)

many sites have a donations-button, if this one would have why not.
-> and i really did not understand why people just come up with buying advantages in a donation-topic....
