... would not recognise this.

First time in 30 years using a datasette, wanted to share the love. After all this time I finally own a C64 again. I'm so happy.

Loading a game in the 80's, would take this amount of time, "enjoy" the time travel experience.

The cassettes are 30+ years old too, and they all worked!

I still have my Spectrum 128K and about 150 games on cassette. :)

What I always found funny, is the intro of GTA Vice City starts as a datasette loading screen reference, but I think a lot of ppl did not realise that.

Lots of errors loading this. I spend 45 minutes with the screwdriver aligning the azimuth.

I remember playing Impossible Mission on the C64 and I think I still have the remastered version they made for the Nintendo DS.

Man, I've probably spent half my childhood waiting for them bloody games to load!
And then there was the dreaded "?LOAD ERROR", which meant I had to start over and waste a bit more of my life... Those were the days!
I was so happy when I finally got a 1541 drive (actually an Oceanic OC-118 clone with JiffyDOS).

I didn't have a C64 but I had (have) an Amiga 500, played a lot of it, it was quite fun! One of my most played games was: Parasol Stars. It should still be somwhere down in the "dungeon" :D

Always wanted an Amiga. To this very day they are expensive as hell here in Argentina.

Awesome game.

Not many people know (or even care) that exist a sequel released for the PC and Gameboy. The PC version is an above average 3D platformer

Gameboy version seems nice, but I didn't tried it yet

Estoy dentro de varios grupos. Ahora no estoy muy activo porque por falta de espacio tuve que guardar las Commodores en el ropero xD Espero pronto armarme el riconcito retro dentro de mi casa.

Datasettes really were/are a pain. Floppy disks were bearable, but datasettes are just painful ;) Yeah, it's all nostalgic and that, but nobody would want to use them. You do know that you can use all kinds of modern storage on your bread box?

This deserves to be played on a CRT monitor instead of one of those horrible HD screens :/

Weirdly enough even though I never knew the C64 era, I have some kind of misplaced nostalgia for the machines of that period, particularly the ZX Spectrum (I never owned one but I absolutely love its design and screen colors). This cassette technology in particular feels both alien and familiar to me, I can't really explain why. Thanks for this video.

The ZX Spectrum Next is a great revival project.

It's interesting from a technical point of view, although I don't like the new design at all. It's way too 2000 with its thin glossy keys. The big squarey keys of the original play a huge part in why I like it. And I'm not crafty enough to be able to hack new hardware into old casings :x

It's not '2000' at all. It's very reminiscent of the Spectrum+, which came out in 1984.

I just gave my old C128 from when I was a kid to a buddy of mine who is a hyper genius and loves old tech. Check out what he did with it:

Isn't that freaking cool? [If you don't think so, then you definitely don't code. :D]

Ah, the good old bad old days. Still, this was better than trying to save to tape and load on the ZX81, which never worked for me.

Also: this. (Would be cooler if the keyboard worked and you didn't have to plug a USB one to type.)

MSX was so much better but sadly not as popular so had to beg for C64 next by promising I'd just copy that cassette instead of having to buy games for me. Also crapsticks might get destroyed but not the real deal. :)

I had the floppy disk drive, and probably 40+ disks, for my C64. I think I had two different versions, if I remember right. One died, and then we bought the latest model.

I loved C64 sports games. Summer Games, Winter Games, 4th & Inches, Super Bowl Sunday, GBA Basketball, Superstar Ice Hockey, Superstar Soccer, Omniplay Basketball...

I tried an emulator a few years ago, to see if I could play a whole season of Super Bowl Sunday. But I couldn't quite figure out how to make it work.

Thanks for the nostalgia!

Summer and Winter games were awesome. Amazing that Olympic Sports t's a genre that couldn't jump into modern gaming.
