The only one to have a unique keys for Macs only, that comes to mind at least, is Activision with CoD but I'm probably wrong with this. You should be fine if you are getting a Steam copy, but I would wait for others to post to see what they think.

I don't think there's a difference between those. I activated a Civ 4 key long ago and both version shows up in my library. I'm guessing that one will do as well.

I tried to figure this out using steamdb. I'm not an expert in interpreting that info. But I do believe that when you activate a key or gift you always get a package that in turn contains 1 or more apps.
It seems there are two apps for CIV IV, one for windows and one for mac. Both of these apps are included in all the same packages. So if I am right and you get a package you should get mac + windows version, no matter which package the key actually activates.
Then again, if I'm wrong and it is possible to get an app without getting a package ...
Maybe someone with more knowledge about the inner workings of steam, apps and packages has a more definitive answer.

Hello I have just found a good deal for Civilization IV Complete, but it writes it's for MAC only, can someone tell me how does it work?
Can steam not allow to install it on linux/windows?
Will I be able to run it on other OS as well?

I just remember that I risked once for Bioshock 3 Season Pass and it works fine. No idea if anything changed in this matter.
