I decided I should do a giveaway, but start with something small, so I bought Fortix 2 as a gift, and saved it to my inventory. However, after opening the giveaway form, I saw that Fortix 2 had an asterisk next to it!
I know it is just a 2 dollar game, but I specifically have it as a gift, and it wasn't from any bundle. I can even produce the receipt from Steam if so desired.
So I know this might be an ongoing issue, but is there then any way to have it count as the full CV? The FAQ says 20%, which would make it 40 cents instead of 2 dollars! Now again, I know it is just 2 dollars, and I shouldn't have been an idiot and bought something that hadn't been on a bundle, but I didn't know! I haven't added it as a giveaway yet, there some way this can be done?

Actually you will get full value for bundled games up to $30 cv, so you will get your full $2 for this.

Trade it for 2 Fortix maybe?

That might actually be a good idea! When was it in a bundle? If it was recently, or if it still is in a bundle, people might not care to take me up on the trade.

Really? I thought it was because of that whole Indie Gala thing over the summer, where most of those Fortix 2 keys flooded the site. Didn't know it had been bundled beforehand.

It was ages ago.

In all seriousness, don't get hung up over CV. Presumably you bought the game because you thought it would be a nice one to give to someone, and it is! Go with your initial instinct, and give the game you wanted to give!

Besides, trading is a hassle, and I can't see anyone being interested in this deal. It really isn't worth your time!

Alternately, it has literally been less than 20 minutes since I bought the gift, maybe I can return it somehow and get the money back in my steam wallet?

In my case, I specifically have it as a gift, and have the Steam email receipt in my inbox as proof if anyone cares (although I guess nobody would :D). If I had gotten it from a bundle, I'd only have the steam key, not as a gift in my inventory

There is no process for checking what type your gift is.

There aren't any exceptions. It could be giftwrapped by Gaben himself, and hand-delivered by a troop of scantily clad dancing girls, but it would still be a bundle game, and treated as such on Steamgifts.

I wouldn't complain about the girls though...

this site should have a .org next to it...you are asking a few volunteers basically to cycle through a crapload of receipts

If you know it's just 2$ what's the problem? Also you haven't gifted anything, so you'll receive 2$ or whatever it's full price is.

I specifically bought it for gifting on here. Now I have no use for it. I am not sure I understand, though. Who would I receive $2 from? I bought it for $1.99 off steam as a gift, if I posted it as a giveaway, I'd get $2 CV?

Yes, you would get the full $2 in this case.

You can get up to $30 CV from bundle games, and this would get you $1.99. After that you get 20% of the value of your non-bundle game giveaways from bundle games.

To be specific for the benefit of newbies, you actually get $25 from bundle games, then up an additional $5 since that's 20% of $25.

From there, you need to gift non bundle games to get additional CV (the regular price of the game plus 20% extra from bundle contributions.)

Yes. Once you've given 30$ in bundle, then we'll start bringing that 2$ down ;)

He is right, you will get full value for it, because it's your first giveaway and it's less than $30.

Hahah! Guess I should've bought another copy of the current bundle, and then gifted some game from THAT :D.
But I'm no cheat! In that case, enjoy some Fortix 2!
