I'd bet money this game is coming out soon. If its not in development, it will be.

Drone Commander / UAV Commander / Death from Above / whatever...

You sit back in your command post and have missions you have to complete with your drone arsenal. I see RTS elements galore.

Actually would be fun if you think about it.

Discuss.

Edit: I'm thinking more like many / swarms of drones, not just flying 1 drone. That'd just be a jet sim game.

This probably already has been done, excluding games like Call of Duty.

I think there should be nice close-ups of results, dismembered kids, woman and man.

Maybe even realistic simulation where not bombing the ambulance would result in unskippable court-martial...

No doubt, right?

And then the inevitable shooting spree from the drone operators that have to try and re-transition to life at home every day instead of an epic decompression chamber route from frontline military duty. Neither are fun, but damn, trying to blow people up every day (including collateral damage) and then drive home in DC traffic must be a complete mindfuck. What a horrible situation on both ends of that nastiness.

Made me think of the Chinese war kites from Empires: Dawn of the Modern World.

You could send them out to explore the map randomly, scouting and uncovering "the fog of war". You could also instruct them to attack any enemies they encountered along the way if you wanted. They were quite drone-like.

Not my type of game.

Sounds like XCOM with an all-SHIV team.
Or maybe Gratuitious Space Battles, if you consider space ships of all shapes and sizes drones. Playing it at least amounts to putting your swarm in position, hitting the "go" button and seeing what happens.
