I think the camera moves slightly despite the tripod. If you pause the video and click from the start to the end (after the portal has gone), you can just notice a slight offset in the view, not sure if this would be causing the wavy effect, but that's all I can think of.

So I made this. (thanks to whoever told me how to clicky.)
Why is the screen kind of wavy? If anyone knows, please do help out. The camera was on a tripod, all positions were in the dead center, as they were supposed to be. I didn't use a green screen, I just layered the videos on top of each other, offset the time and masked out around the guy.
Oh, and, Yes, go for it, wonderful things will happen! =)
