Hey Guys,

Would like to promote my group and curator page for patient gamers, for older single player games, called Old School Hard Core Patient gamers. Everybody is welcomed, any commentaries are also welcomed, thank you in advance to helping me build up my old dream to become Steam curator. Would like to hear your feedback also.

Group: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/OldSchoolHCc
Curator Page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/40865645/

Cheers!

the thread is in user project though which makes sense as he is promoting his curator which wouldnt be allowed in group recruitment but it is allowed like he did

I thought it then was only allowed in giveaways, because if everyone would just come here to advertize their group it could become a spam.
Per this line:""Remember, the above rules regarding user content still apply. For example, we might allow you to advertise in giveaway descriptions, but that does not permit you to post referral links or link to your website with illegal content."
It's so confusing and unclear at times, i give up trying to then.

Thanks.

honestly it doesnt really get you many followers if u do a user project thread on ur curator. People on steamgifts are looking for giveaways not reviews so I doubt it will ever really be a problem. There also arent that many people doing them :)

There aren't many people, but when you let (many) do it, then people think oh it's okay, i'll do it too then in where it could lead to many doing it, a few years ago a lot of people were begging, why? Because they seen others do it.
Usually it's been done by new members, and maybe even the only reason why they joined and i think that's why it was only allowed in giveaways because then it wouldn't create the possible spam on the forum, as you would see the giveaways anyway.

People come here for giveaways, but some also enjoy the forum (without spam / "advertising").

He is promoting his curator and group in the correct place - User Projects. His main goal as a group/curator isnt giveaways but reviews, unlike those that are promoting in Group Recruitment. I've seen plenty of people promote curator/groups in User Projects and have done it myself.

I written a reply above, if it's done and not seen been a mod then it doesn't always mean it's okay. ;)
But you could be right, i just find that one sentence confusing if not true that it would only been allowed in giveaways itself as i thought that would been the only way it was okay.

" if it's done and not seen been a mod then it doesn't always mean it's okay."

I did a thread like this a year or longer ago and was talking to a mod to about it making sure it was okay and they told me to do it exactly like he did. It is conform with the guidelines :)

Fair enough. but certain rules have been adapted by then (and different mods said different things then, because also of unclear rules, why it was adapted).

As far as i know are user project = curator ok, group not.

But the rules are far from very clear and dif. mods handle it different.

Didn't know there was a difference between group and curator.

Even more reason to get clearer rules, if a mod handles it differently because he/she doesn't know either,, how can we expect to follow then?
