my son has a Steam account (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198055617984/) but hasnt used it for 1167 days and in that time he's also had 2 new email accounts and cant remember the name or password of the original email account he set up Steam with. he wants to get back into gaming and there are 35 games on that account he'd rather not loose. basically what i want to know are what are his options and/or chances of recovering that account?

Did you bought boxed copies of any game? If you did, you can try to recover using the box + included Steam key. Maybe support will change the e-mail if you provide this (or similar) proofs of ownership.

I guess you could show them you are the owner of the CC used to buy the games and such. Not sure if it works but that's the first thing that comes to my mind.

do you have receipts or some other kind of proof of purchase?

i would probly have reciepts in my Steam email folder but that would only prove i bought the games, it wouldnt prove he owns the account. im also kinda thinking most of them would have been from bundles?

But it's a start.
You need to create a support ticket here, then provide proof of ownership see here

If you don't have any other proof of ownership that works, you could try showing proof that you bought the games and gifted them to him, and hope for the best.
disclaimer: I have never actually had to deal with this with steam; IRL I have helped clients with similar types of problems. The more proof you have, the better your chances.

IRL, I've had clients include things like copies of IDs or notarized statements. I noticed a name "stuart cameron" is attached to the profile, as is a location (Glasgow). Assuming these are real, presenting copies of your ID, his ID, and a written statement that you're his father, bought those games on your account for him, and gifted them to him, should go quite a long way.

yay for failure to protect one's identity
going forward, he should probably remove those details from his account

most of these games got bundled at some point, it would take like $10-$15 to rebuild this library

Current humble bundle would be a good place to start.
