I contacted the winner of this giveaway of mine, because he did'nt activate as received.

He said that the humble bundle page was claimed. F*ck me I can't remember if I previously check it.

This was very strange, but I provided a new (tested) humble bundle gift link. He claimed the second page, but says that the link code never arrive. I have the whole conversation in screenshots.

This seems fishy.

Don't know what to do. I don't want to give him another code if this is some kind of scam.

I've opened a ticket, but... ¿Suggestions? ¿Ideas?

You can always claim the page yourself and then make the game as 'gifts' and give the link to the user.
But to make sure, before giving , click the link you created in the game you will give, and if it appears for you to put email and password means that is not redeemed and then you will know for sure.

OR

click redeem, and it will show a steam key since HB doesnt redeem automatically in steam anymore

I checked the page (the second time, f*ck) and was unclaimed.

He said that he did that, and the mail never arrive.

I have some old humble bundle gift links, so IDK if gives codes or redeem to steam, so I sent the links. Never a problem until this.

He claimed the second page, but says that the link code never arrive.

Tell him to use this: https://www.humblebundle.com/resender

If he put the wrong e-mail, then it's his fault and... I don't know, you should tell support about it

Currently when dealing with bundle keys, I just get the key myself, instead of expecting a giveaway winner to jump through bundle hoops, enter email here, click there, etc. to finally get their Steam key. :)

According to other people, you can contact Humble Bundle support, and tell them you're having problems with a key. Apparently, they can invalidate that key and provide a new one. So if someone's trying to scam you, the old key they might have copied won't work. And if they already traded it away, the game will be removed from whatever account used it. Not your problem. :)

There was a forum thread somewhere with a possible caveat, however. Mentioning Steamgifts caused the Humble Bundle support to stop helping because we're key resellers or something? Don't remember the details, unfortunately...

Ok. I will think of contacting Humble Bundle...

But if steamgifts allows the use of humble bundle links, I've expected that a user could claim that sort of gifts. Buy hey, Murphy's Law

It's tricky, you never know if a person is telling the truth about a bad key... :( Perhaps there are a few shady people around who might try a scam like that, but fortunately I've not met one... :)

I've had an old bundle key be already used when I gave it away, but it was cheap enough that I could just buy a new one from the Steam store. I probably used it myself and forgot - it can happen when you're trying to do several things at once, at least to me... :)

Not sure what I'd do if someone told me a $60 key was already used, though... Here's hoping I never have to find out... :)

Yes, but I checked and the gift page was Unclaimed. In that state the page allows you to put your email, and so.

After he put his email, the page changed to claimed. And he said that page tell him that the gift was sent to his email, but the humble bundle mail never arrived. Mmmm

all my HB gift were also "gone" before (even though i NEVER give it away)
they said it was hacked (for real??)
but fortunately it's all been reset now and already redeem it all

the thing is, my unused key but already opened one still safe
maybe it's the same problem?

I just dispense the key and give that to them directly... Too much hassle to have people use bundle links. They might not even have an account for that bundle site.

You don't need an account to use the site.

i don't mean "that bundle site you used" in particular.
"That" could be any bundle site.

Is there a name for this grammar?!
Someone who is good at grammar, come explain D:.

I'm not a native english speaker so IDK. :)

But this giveaways site allows two types of keys; Steam keys and humble bundle keys to be sent through the steamgifts page. I though that I could rely on those.

Only something with a good grasp of English would get.
It's a general statement for a possible situation.

I just mean I don't give any bundle links because some bundle sites need accounts and some winners don't have accounts for those sites, so it just causes problems.

Yes, but I gived literally like a dozen, and never have a problem... So I felt confident about those links.

I've heared that middle east countries are having problems with the activation of steam keys. This one is from Ukraine so I think it doesn't apply, but... ¿Could be location related?

This is as fishy as it gets. Some winners give won games to friends or trade them when they say keys are dupes or whatever. You provided two keys, now it's his turn to give evidence.

cant help you on the first case.

but i've had similar problem with your second.

traded a HB link, tested as unclaimed. he claimed it and later claim that the email to redeem the code never arrived. After a lengthy conversation trying to figure it out, i finally was able to get the email address he said he used to claim the hb link.

With that information, i sent an email to hb support asking them if this particular hb link was indeed claimed to that email address and whether or not the game has been activated.

Hb replied that the hb link might have been claimed with a typo, thus they said they reset the link and gave me a new link. I gave the new link to the person i traded with, and had no problem afterwards.

Interesting to note is that HB does not confirm/reveal the actual email address used to claim the 1st failed page. They only straightforward stated that it might have been claimed to a mistyped address, nor did they reveal whether or not the game has been activated.

tldr, get the email address the winner used to claim ur hb link, check with ur hb support and their reply should indicate if there was any shenanigan involved.

Thanks for all your responses! I contacted HB support with the supposed email used, and opened a ticket here on steamgifts.

I'll keep you informed, because this thread could be helpful for someone else maybe.

Well. Humble Bundle support is great. This is the mail that they gave me, with a new link:

Thanks to everyone.

Hello,

Unfortunately it sounds like your friend's email provider may be preventing emails from Humble Bundle from reaching their email inbox. We recommend they try reaching out to their email provider to see if they can assist you in resolving the issue.
If you remain unable to successfully associated the address with your account, we suggest switching to an address with a well-supported provider such as Gmail or Yahoo. We tend to have much higher delivery success rates with these two email providers. I apologize for the inconvenience.
