I hope this makes you feel better.

With 400+ games, not sure how did that make you feel so miserable, if you have a spary copy of red alert 3, that will make us both happy :'D

Just so you know, that profile is most likely fake and he is using someone else's name to trade with you.

I'm not so sure that's true - he's got 1,994h of playing Counter Strike, for instance :P and a lot of +rep on Steam and steamtrades.
The only thing bugging me is... yeah it's 0,00001% possible the key didn't work - but since NO proof was given for that, I simply must conclude him to be scammer :/

I'm just saying to MidnightWolfie that it's not a scam that involves some sort of "identity theft" where the other person says he has a lot of rep on Steamtrades, while giving you a link to someone else's profile.

Sorry about that dude; there are so many scammers on Steamtrades.

Yes, it's like I said "that's the thing with keys" :/
But proof could be given, if both parties use teamviewer or such a thing.. damn myself for not asking for a video or anything...
Well I guess +65/-1 can fool me, after all...

You could contact HiB with some proof of purchase and ask them to invalidate the code on Steam.
You would gain nothing in the process (well, maybe some satisfaction), but whoever used the key would have the game removed.
Not sure though if they will do it, they have more perssing matters to attend to, like all those credit card scammers, but it's worth a shot.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's very unlikely, especially because trading your HiB keys is against their TOS.

this wouldn't have to be a problem, at all.
All it would take him to do is prove to me that this happened ;)
It's not like you couldn't do that ;)
If I ever see proof, I will like go to a monastery or something...and donate.. oh, you know what I'm trying to say, here :D
Comment has been collapsed.
i don't know how you can prove something like that...
i mean... if he is innocent whe can just give u the steam username of his friend so u can see his game inventory.
but if he's a real scammer he can just give u a random user who doesn't have the game.
well to bad this happend, and please enjoy your birthday.

see that's the thing.. he could've given me his "friend's" steam url, nothing wrong with that. I could even have traded the key directly to him(the friend) instead - not a problem at all.
But I guess, I will never go first again.. So, "REPUTATION" is a unreal bitch after all...

Oh please...people have been getting screwed over ever since currency has been around. Is it worse now? Probably.
Also its more than black and white in this situation. His word vs your word. Although how exactly can you be certain the key actually worked? Just because you didn't use it since you acquired it? I'm not saying he didn't scam you, not saying he did, but how are we going to know for certain.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm speaking of probability here :P
Facts vs Claims/Words.
Of course, I'm not certain, how can I be without even a slight proof of it NOT working :P
I have the key from indiegala - I guess they could've messed things up.
But what's the probability of that happening compared to this story?
I've entered the code myself, of course, "Duplicate".
More, I can't do.

Sorry bruh.
Have this. May make you feel better somehow.

man, my friend and i were trying to get enough copies of ravaged from some bundle to fill a 5v5 after some of the betas we had turned to full copies, so we got some spare keys together and i watched him try trade them, we got 8 accounts in the end and loss so many games cuz ppl use that same excuse that its suddenly for a friend and the key doesnt work.. then they say well if u dont have any left ill take that "BTA game" instead, I was so angry but my friend trade it anyway, third time it happen i was like fuck you we jst brought those games fuck ur rep and fuck that guy
Everyone who wanted the key for themselves activated stuff instantly no problem then quickly paste out a ravaged key, but those mofos with inept friends are always u are lowest rep so u go, ok wait one sec i get my friend to activate, hey doesnt work are you scammer? its ok its jst bad key, jst give me other game.

Dude, never trade keys. Only use the trading window unless you know them personally.
I advertised a magicka wizard wars keys on steamtrades and 4 out of the 5 people that added me were scammers. I didn't get scammed but steamrep said they were. In that case I didn't care if i lost the key as it was free alpha key and game will be f2p anyway

The alleged scammer does have a decent rep, though. Only one negative before today.

The only reason why I went first in the first place.
I figured his rep was waaay better than mine, nothing to lose here.
I then noticed the one -rep is pretty much like my story..
Look, all I am saying is the story he gave sounds fishy AND I haven't seen ANY proof.
Not even a faked screenshot or anything :D
And considering some .. other.. HiB CC scammers and stuff - I read about that on steamtrades - they had pretty badass rep, too.

im surprised you didnt notice the red flag. he said it was for his friend but you didnt even once attempt to ask him to invite 'his friend' to your chat. the account which is supposed to activate the game is unknown to you, furthermore since he said he's sending the key to 'his friend' that means the account was also online at that time. direct key trading is already risky business, not to mention adding an unidentified 3rd party into the equation, sorry to hear your loss tho, happy bday :/

No need to censor this. Getting scammed sucks. When in doubt, use a middleman and not someone your trade partner magically summons out of a hat.
Also, if you left a comment on his Steamtrades profile, repost it with a link to your Steamrep thread. Also, you need to add screenshots of your chat. I hope you haven't closed it yet...
Alleged scammer tells his side of the story in his returning comment. I guess there's a good reason Steamrep don't do anything about key trades. There is no way to determine if the key really was used or not. On the other hand, the guy not telling which account the key would be used on is shady as well.

I'm pretty sure, I do need to censor that here ;P
Also I'd avise you to remove the steamrep link, since it could get YOU suspended for "directly calling out" :P
But, yes, thanks, I'll include the steamrep thread on steamtrades :) Of course, I've closed chat by now... -.-... but pastebin+the last screenshot should suffice :)

I meant, screenshots are required for Steamrep. You haven't added any.

trading with keys is very frustrating at times. this is why people value giftable copies more then keys.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, I am saying that you were the person who was scammed by the person who used REP to his advantage. :)
I am always frosty about stuff like this, especially about trading game keys. I always tell my friend that even though a person has 500 REP, one day they might just say "Oh I have 500 rep, it's very believable and I can definitely make people go first and easily scam them".
It does happen

You know it's like a .. "balance" for me.
And the pendulum swings WAY to the "scumbags" side.
It's just expierence, really. I'm not THAT old :P but somewhere along the line, something must've gone wrong.
Faith in humanity cannot be restored completely, ever. There was the holocaust, after all...
But in small amounts, the "every day life heroes" restore it. You know what I'm talking about, I guess :P
Then comes such a guy and you notice the pendulum swing again ...

This should restore some of it :-)

I know you guys are probably not going to like another thread about a stupid lowbob that lets himself get scammed...
But I'm just so infuriated :/
I've censored his name and steamtrades user link.
So... what will cheer me up for my birthday then? :( It's in 7 hours :/
EDIT:
I reported on steamrep, filed a report to the steamtrades support and cried a little ;D
Thanks for your "mental" support and the funny images ;)
Btw: I know now, where I got the key from (I checked my bundles account pages etc) and it was the Indiegala Flashpoint (I believe it was BTA) - So, could I talk to their support?
