Seems like only something you can know. If you're considering the possibility, it may very well be true.

Well... puts on Dumbledore's Glasses Wikipedia describes Lovesickness as "the informal syndrome of rejected or unrequited love or the absence of a loved one and covers physical as well as mental symptoms." So I'd say that if you are feeling depressed because you haven't found your special someone yet then thats love sickness. It this case I feel it is necessary to dispense these.
If however you actually are worried that there is someone who you simply cant toss out of your head then that might be something-else.

You can feel depressed without having a specific reason (probably your subconscious thinking about that person), you can feel phisically sick (for example tachycardia), you can loose your appetite, between others.

Oh boy, yes, so much yes. The other thing is, after you get over it, you hate those songs and can't ever listen to them again.

Observe the colour of your feces for few days and see if there's anythig unusual.

...you just know?
That's like asking,
'how can u tell if u need to pee.'

Except you have to learn what it feels when you have to pee. Thus the whole, potty training thing when you are 1-4 or patients that have had a catheter for years.
Same goes for everyday feelings like hunger or thirst. Yes it seems to you like its impossible to not know these things, but under the right conditions that differ from yours, its entirely possible.
I had to learn how it feels to love another so I certainly didnt know. There is also a difference between puppy/child love, lust, and true love where you will do anything for them. So saying, "you just know" is lazy.

And you missed something quite relevant. There's a difference between lovesickness and love itself. Everything you said is correct and right, but doesn't apply to the topic.

There was a man. A lonely guy he is. He felt so lonely that one day he went to the doctor.
"Doctor I want you to perform a surgery on me, transplant a girl in my heart so that I won't feel lonely," he asked the doctor and the doctor agreed with his request. So then the doctor put him into sleep, opened his chest with a miniature girl in a test tube readied to be transplanted into the man's heart. When the doctor incised the man's heart, the doctor was shocked. He had to cancel the operation.
After the man recovered from anesthesia, he was told by the doctor that the surgery was not a success.
"We had encountered a problem. We cannot put the girl in your heart."
"But why doctor?"
"You see, we cannot do the surgery. It turns out that you already have a girl residing in your heart."
-a rough translation from a story I've read before.-

I can't remember the original text but that's how the story goes. Man feels lonely, thought that he was lonely because he never loved anyone. Turns out that it was lovesickness in the first place that made him feel alone.
