Firstly, I'd agree with touche112, that people should try and think about the effects their words can have but I'd also agree with you to some extent, that others probably need to grow a thicker skin...
BUT, to you and to Shierzhi below I'd say that no-one "deserves" depression/anxiety. The incredibly cruel thing about mental illness is that something completely inconsequential and meaningless can seem like it's the end of your world. One of the things that happens is that your sense of perspective gets, for want of a better word, fucked.
"Not winning FREE GAEMS" might seem like an incredibly silly thing to get upset about, but just look up "MW3 rage" on YouTube and see how easy it is for even otherwise-"normal" people to go off the deep-end. Someone with a suppressed immune system can't choose whether or not they catch a virus and someone with mental illness can't choose what is or isn't going to make them depressed/anxious. If you don't believe me, Gabe of Penny Arcade has written quite frankly about his anxiety and the seemingly minor things that can trigger it.
So, in response to your post...sort of, but also, in a far more accurate sense, fuck no.
People talk about SteamGifts as if it's supposed to be a community but my friends and neighbours have never told me to fuck off or start cutting myself, even as a joke. I'm sure most people don't want that kind of "community". That being said, if you're completely ignorant about a subject, shut the fuck up rather than upset people. If being a merely decent human-being isn't incentive enough, remember that people around here have the power to exclude you from their giveaways.

Most of the games have hundreds or even thousands of people entered. Chances of winning tend to be low.

Join some giveaway groups and/or give some games so you can enter contributor giveaways to improve your odds. I won my first game around 600 entries or so. Also, don't expect to win with 300 entries if you're entering giveaways with over 1000 entrants, try to enter ones with less entries unless you have points to burn.
