Steam support - not gonna happen.

But you can contact Humble Bundle - they can revoke the key and maybe provide a new one for you - they did for me in the past, but it was the case of my key being stolen so idk. Still worth a try.

Few weeks ago I tried checking a key to see if it's for the correct game (got it from a trade), but it got activated. Even though I already had that game in my library. ...turned out that the key was for an another region.

I contacted support and they deactivated it. Because 'activating' it hadn't added anything new to my library.

About 4 years ago I activated a Saints Row 2 Key on my account whilst already owning the game. It gave me the game again for some reason on my account, same name just different ID. Steam support removed it and replaced my key for me after forever of waiting. It's worth a shot.
This was the ONLY good interaction I've had with Steam support though.

So they deactivated the key and told You the one You used (which got deacttivated) will work again and could be activated on another account? Thanks for your answer in advance!

Hello Teejay,

The keys are two different kinds of keys containing slightly different content.

As a result, they may have allowed you to register the game despite you already owning it.

As a one time customer service gesture I will release the CD Key. """

In my next message I checked if it was the same key I would need to use and he replied saying yes and even gave me the key again so I didn't have to search for which site I bought it on.

That's very nice and good to know, thank You very much for informing me/us!
So bad it is "a one time customer service gesture" though :(

I think that's mainly to deter people from doing it constantly (not that I can see a situation where you really can)

Actually, this happened to me when I tried to redeem a key of Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition I already had the classic game and the new one claimed into my account. Took almost a week for Steam support to reply but they got the job done, and there is a high chance that you can get the key removed, just be careful of your wording when writing the message.
