Dennis Villeneuve has yet to make a bad movie. So, I am really interested what he will do with the source material. I was pleasantly surprised by Blade Runner 2049, so I have high hopes for this movie

This. The cast is pretty awesome so far, sure, but the main thing is that not only Villeneuve is able to shoot very attractive movies, he's also already shown (twice) that he's very competent when it comes to sci-fi.

i'm generally not optimistic about mainstream filmography looking at latest years, but I'm fan of Dune so hopeful it will be great ;P I will watch it anyway.

I just hope that it won't do as the Hyperion movie...
If a new Dune movie comes out, I'm sure it would be better than the David Lynch's one.

Can't be as good as the books though. But way way less words and way way more CGI so at least some people will discover the world of Dune without having to read more than a few words at a time :P

Strange, I thought people like the 2000 tv miniseries. After all, the books aren't exactly high-paced either.

I think that the problem with the Dune miniseries (mostly the first one) is the casting, the acting and the very low budget. Story wise are pretty close to the books. The second one is almost good.

The lead cast was terrible but Alice Krige and Susan Sarandon, I mean...
The main issue was the writing. It was staying close to the books but losing all the substance and magic for cheap action and terrible dialog for exposure.

With the current, modern CGI, a movie reboot would be fantastic I think!

Wouldn't mind getting a good game reboot too - Surprisingly, this is the first time I've heard that there's a Dune game out there :P Gotta go look it up

I think there are a couple of packages to run Dune 2000 (one of the better ones) in modern systems and it's Freeware!

Villeneuve is a lot of hype and no substance for me and I'm curious about some of their casting choices honestly.
I don't think it'll have a hard time being better than the first movie or the crap show they did but I doubt they get as good as the books or even close.

There already is a remake of Dune 2, it is called Dune 2000 and can be downloaded for free (legally). Runs in Windows 10 and modern systems.

It's pretty old, so they should reboot it again. I hope that other than EA acquire the IP, and make a good game out of it.

Well, I'd really like to see Jodorowsky's Dune actually happen. It's totally not Dune as we know it, but it'd probably be awesome in many ways...

But still, nothing can be worse than Lynch's 1984 Dune (except a JJDune), so, I still have high hopes for Villeneuve's Dune.

Love everything Dune so I'm hyped. Even the projects that didn't turn out great have still all been interesting to watch for one reason or another.

A remake of the original Dune game would be nice.
As for movies... I think it can't be done, unless they do like a 10h movie. Something like a series would fit better.
