I have Horizon Zero Dawn on my wishlist and am thinking about buying it now (as it is discounted at 40%) or wait for the Summer Sale at the 24th of June. The current discount ends then and I don't have experience with other games that were discounted shortly before a general sale. Won't they be on sale when most of the games are, will they get another discount or keep the same as the current one? Thanks for advice.

I think general idea is to buy now, wait to see price during the sale, if better refund, if not, enjoy playing :)

If you do not plan on using steam wallet you can wait.
Even if there is no discount during the sale on steam itself there are sales on other shops who do last longer.

Two examples both last for at least 15 days from now on:
Gamesplanet:

Humble Bundle:

In the next 1-2 years most games will be cheaper.. why buy a game now if it will be cheaper in 2 years? what if someone don't want to wait 1-2 years lol

"In the next 1-2 years most games will be cheaper.."
yes Someone will be FREE Too on epic games store, humble bundle, gog, giveaways etc.

"why buy a game now if it will be cheaper in 2 years?"
Zelda breath of the wild,witcher3,astroneer,elite dangerous it's games that i can buy NOW.. they offer original gameplay, physic etc.
But Horizon Zero Dawn it's (as the most of playstaton exclusive) more "Visual" than physic\gameplay fun.
Just for example in zelda if u trow a fire torch in grass the fire will spread,if you trow an arrow it have the fisic and you can go get it back but if you do it in horizon zero dawn nothing happen,so the enviroment interactions, gameplay and physic is very low.

"what if someone don't want to wait 1-2 years lol"
Horizon Zero Dawn is NOT a "NOW"\"NEW" game we are in 2021 and this game has been released in 2017 for PS4 as exclusive then ported to PC so it's a 4 years old game , it's not worth it to pay high expensive price if as you said too all games after 2 years become cheapers,so thisgame it's 4 years old why is not cheaper already? but this is not a problem i will wait and get it when it will be cheaper until then i can play tomb raider, sekiro, farcry, astroneer, zelda and many others beautiful games,my money my decision,if other don't want to wait is up to them,i will wait.

I understand what you are saying, i didn't mean it specifically to horizon. I have horizon on ps4 and its shit in my opinion (very overrated), so personally i wouldn't pay more than 10 euro for it on pc.

What i meant in my reply is that, you can always wait, you can wait 10 years, most now news games will surely be almost free, but if you wait all the time you will never have anything 'real' new stuff in your life.

And no, i'm not one of those guys who buys everything new when it comes out. The most i have payed for a game is probably less than 40 euro.

With rental services like Xbox Game Pass,Ubisoft Plus,Microsoft Rewards would be not that much hard to try new stuff at cheap price, and in videogames the "Have" "ownership" it's not so much important if you think that 1) all stores one day can stop to exist 2) our lifes too and 3) most of today games is released incomplete (without dlcs) and unpatched so would not be that much hard to play the other 9999 games released before for pc (tomb raider, batman arkham knight etc.) buy at cheap price and 1-2 years pass fast, wait more than 2 years is not needed, but wat 1-2 years is very the best choice in my opinion right now and for how at this moment videogames market\stores\services work.
i not think that horizon is bad game, for sure visually and storytelling is good, but for the date has been released (2017) how the release was managed (playstation exclusive first),and for the physic\gameplay not exceptional in my opinion it's not worth more than $19,99€ (same price of playstation hits\platinium\choiche cheapgames collection).

The Steam Summer Sale obviously hasn't been publicly announced by Valve, as that doesn't normally happen ahead of the launch date. Game developers received an email though stating when the date and time is and that's pretty solid if you ask me.

Buy the game and wait for steam sales. If a better discount comes up, use the refund option from the Steam support section. After wait 24 hours for your money back and buy the game again. For refunds, you can check out the article here. https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/?l=english

I bet the price is going to be the same, so buy and enjoy right now.
HOWEVER you can also wait until summer sale and buy it then, and that way you will get steam summer cards (yay), but keep in my mind that its possible, unlikely but possible, that it doesnt get discounted and you would have missed the sale, to avoid this, you can buy now but dont play (you can download it), wait until summer sale, and if the discount remains, refund in steam wallet, wait 24 hours to get you money back, and buy the game again.

What I usually do is that I buy every game at full price whenever I'm able so I don't have anything to buy whenever summer or winter sale comes around. That way I save money

if you want to play it right away, buy it now. if you just want it in your Collection, cause its a very nice game, wait for a much higher discount.

The current sale for that ends when the Steam Summer Sale begins. I'm pretty sure the game isn't going to be on sale for the Steam Summer Sale due to this.

The same 40% off discount is happening on other storefronts weeks after this current one on Steam ends. If you don't care about Steam points for the point shop you could just wait and get it off of one of those instead. And like Keksinator mentions above if you don't plan on playing it right away you could wait for a bigger discount. It could even be in a bundle down the road.

Important question worth asking yourself : Do you plan on playing it immediately, or are you just buying it so that it's there whenever you feel like playing it? Because this is how backlogs work, and the idea of "I'll play it sometime soonish" can often become "Oh yeah I bought that game 2 years ago and forgot to play it", in which time there is likely to be a better sale ;)

Amen to that. There are some games I still didn't touch from my first summer sale two years ago. I didn't even buy that many, just 6 or 7, but who knows when I'll get to them...

true. for russia the price was increased by 3 times! (from 930 to 2800 ₽)
so I'm unlikely to see a decent discount

Wait for three more years and buy it at 80% off.
Buy, wait to see summer sale and refund if it's better.

If you've a second Steam account, you can gift it to yourself from there at the current price. Just don't accept the gift (I think you can ignore it for up to 2 weeks). If the game goes on sale again, reject the gift (it will automatically be refunded) and buy on your main account. Otherwise accept the gift.

Regardless of how "old" the game is (it's still pretty new to strictly PC players), it's better than a lot of the "newer" games. It's an incredibly fun experience with a great story, combat and worthwhile upgrade system. In addition, it's gorgeous to look at, and you'll spend a lot of time exploring just to see the sights. Paid full price for it on its PC release, played the hell out of it (twice, in fact), and loved every minute of it.

If you think you're going to play it any time soon (and you should!), go ahead and get it. It's well worth the money.
