You're an optimist. I'm already asking myself how they'll fuck it up.

Well, while they werent's good adaptations, some of them was actually good movies (if you forget about game part). Max Payne had a good atmosphere, Silent Hill movies was enjoyable, I like the style, especially in second part. Tomb Rider... Well I don't really rember that one too good so I can't say, but Need For Speed, as a 'car movie' was good - keep in mind that it's hard to make an adaptation of movie based on racing game. If they would go into Underground direction, they would be accused of remaking The Fast and The Furious. Postal was funny, it had great dark, ridiculous humour, not to mention that cameo of Uwe Boll was a great response to all his haters.
Other movies you mentioned - I didn't see them or I don't remember them good enough (Far Cry had a movie? Damn!, I didn't know that!).
You see, like I said in first sentence - 'game movies' as adaptations are mostly bad, but when we will forget about their source, when we will forget about game, some of them are actually pretty good movies.

Each to his own, I guess. I thought they all sucked. At least the ones I saw.
Tomb Raider wasn't THAT bad, I guess, but I really can't say it was good either.
I didn't actually see Max Payne, because I heard it was so bad I shouldn't bother, so I don't actually know
And don't watch the Far Cry movie. Just don't.

almost all which are directed by uwe boll and it seems like he dosn't do anything else as shitty video game movies...

"Normally movies from games are good"
That... is not a sentence I would expect to hear. I'm having trouble thinking of any good ones, usually they're pretty terrible. But hey, everyone likes different movies I suppose :-) I'm curious which ones do you like and which don't you like?
For me, I liked the old anime Street Fighter II - The Animated Movie, if anime counts.
But the list of ones I didn't like... let's see. All the Resident Evil movies, the awful Hitman movies, Doom, the Tomb Raider ones, the live action Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and DoA films. I didn't think much of Prince of Persia, but I guess it was average.
I can't comment on Silent Hill or Need For Speed, though I haven't heard much praise.

No it's not that, as I said - everyone likes different movies. I was just sharing my likes/dislikes. My brother loves Doom and the Resident Evil movies for example.
Was there any in particular you enjoyed? I haven't seen them all, I'm sure.

Well, it's not bad for people that don't want to play the videogames, I guess?

Although the writing team is a bit shaky, I actually am quite confident in this movie-- and I think every video game movie up to this point has been basically trash. Having both Fassbender and Cotillard on board is a sign that there's actually something very promising here, and the director's first film got a 7.5/83% on Rotten Tomatoes. The franchise lends itself pretty easily to cinema, and using a new protagonist and assassin means they won't be awkwardly tied to a game.

My cry is sorely because I'm fed up of movies based on games, and in how shallow manner they recreate given game's universe. That's all. I'm perfectly fine without any movies based on games. There are enough movies based on movies :P Plenty of stuff to watch.

I do like their take on it - because instead of just remaking the plot of one of the games as a movie, they're making it an entirely new story in the AC world, which will actually be in the same canon with the game. So, they're expanding the story of the games(and the story really needs a lift because it honestly sucks right now), and not tying themselves to a protagonist/storyline known from the games, so they won't be pissing off fans by destroying a character (Like the recent Hitman movie did).
So, I think they're headed the right direction. I also think that videogame movies are usually painfully bad. We'll see how this goes

I don't know what to think. Lately, there has been a ton of announcements about movies based on good game series. And I believe that with games like Borderlands, Warcraft, Assassin's Creed and even FNAF, it's possible to make a really great adaptation.
But at the same time, we all know how movie industry treats video games and how it was in the past. I really hope they won't fail every single of them.

Seeing what the franchise has become, it's very unlikely that they have a decent story to tell. I wouldn't expect more than a correct action movie at best.
If I had to bet, I'd prophetize absolute crap, but I'm notoriously bad minded.

I wonder how they'll adapt this in a movie : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpHeTBbXSis
Joking aside, they can't do games correctly, they can't fix their games, and now they try to do some movies ? Ok.

Going to turn out like the new Hit-man movie ...not worth watching. Might be on Par with the Super Mario film lol

I think it's going to be at least entertaining, also it's not directly copying one of the games:
"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain."

I understand that it's nigh impossible to do a 100% accurate adaptation of a game in 1,5 h-2h playtime.
But I don't get it why they can't stick to the source material at least. It's like one of the weird decisions where the "Resi" movies were turned into superhero flicks.
Or maybe they gonna follow the "Amazing Spider-man trend" and go for the reboot 1-2 years after release.

nononon.
that' a reboot every 1-2 years!
he is going to be rebooted again in the next Avengers movie, or something like that
i want to cry

Not Avengers. He's gonna be in the next Captain America, and then have his own movie. At least it's with Marvel Cinematic this time
But Marvel still don't own the rights, it's just a deal with Sony, so I guess when the deal is over Sony will have another reboot :P
