Your country is full of criminals, that's the problem.

You can't act like your country is the one place without criminals in the world, since they're everywhere.

Where were all the "normal people" with guns during the mass shootings? Really bad criminals will still get their guns, sure, but the average joe won't, minimizing the risk. Look as Australia, for example. They've greatly improved since their gun restriction laws.
Comment has been collapsed.
All of the mass shootings occur in "gun free" zones where it is illegal for law abiding folk to carry their guns. The shooters that get stopped by armed citizens doesn't fit the anti-gun narrative that the government-corporate-media conglomerate puts forth so they get little if any coverage. Keep in mind that when there is an immediate, armed response the aggressor doesn't have the opportunity to shoot nearly as many people as he would otherwise so the event doesn't necessarily qualify as a mass shooting.
Here are some incidents where there was an immediate armed response by normal people.

Also, just off the top of my head we can throw in the Texas belltower sniper from decades ago. It took a few minutes for the college students to return fire because they had to leave campus, go get their guns, and then come back. Just think of the lives that could have been saved if only they had been allowed to carry their weapons on campus.
On the flipside of that cops murder, beat, disfigure, and rape people every day with virtually no repercussions. In the last decade we've had more Americans killed by cops than we've had Americans killed in the Iraq war. Just recently a cop in Georgia threw a flashbang grenade into an 19 month old's bed during a drug raid that found no drugs. The child is going to be severely disfigured for life assuming that he survives at all. Cops denied any culpability for the child's severe, life threatening injuries. They're not even paying the kid's medical expenses as he clings to life in a medically induced coma.
TLDR: An armed population is always a good thing. An armed government is always a bad thing.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was about to accept, yet not fully agree on, your main points, but then in the end you makes it seem like you'd like an armed civil population but unarmed government/police. So they're supposed to do nothing while violent crimes happens, just waiting for "ordinary people" to show up with their legal guns? I'm sorry, but I just can't understand the logic behind that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Cops shoot hostages, potential suicides, unarmed homeless people, dogs in fenced in yards, and people wearing headphones who pose no threat to anyone that disregard a cop's unlawful commands. They beat elderly veterans who get tired of waiting for treatment at VA hospitals to death. They beat people that film them. They throw college kids who are not charged with any crime in a cell and leave them to die of dehydration. They rob small terminally ill girls of their "make a wish" money. They rape women. They fire their guns toward crowds with total disregard for human life. They steal both unofficially and via forfeiture laws. They do 3AM no knock swat raids on the homes of non-violent offenders that have only committed victimless crimes. During such raids when a flashbang just happens to get tossed into an infant's cradle and mutilates the kid they take no responsibility for it and are entirely unaccountable for their actions.
In short police are the criminals. Government is the aggressor. Our past several presidents have been war criminals and terrorists. Obama authorized child murder. He ordered the execution of American citizens that were never charged with a crime, never tried for a crime, never convicted of a crime, and posed no pressing danger to anyone.
Ordinary people aren't like the cops. We don't need to show up in response to an act of aggression. We are already there. We are out and about doing our jobs, maintaining our property, and living our lives. Guns aren't something that you just keep in a safe inside your home. They're something that you should carry with you.

Alright, right now I can't descide whether it's you or your coutry that's stupid, as I honestly don't know too much about it, nor these incidents.
I hope, for the sake of humanity, that it's just you, but I fear you might be right about the police cruelity, to an extend, and the police force of the US is corrupt, along with the rest of the country.
Comment has been collapsed.
The mere existence of the state is an act of aggression against the general populace. Every instance of police aggression I mentioned is from a recent or noteworthy documented incident. The thing is that it's not just the US that has these issues. It's everywhere.
For further reading I suggest "Our Enemy, the State" by Albert Jay Nock. It's a fairly good place to start.
If you're not an anarchist or a libertarian then you're brainwashed, ignorant, stupid, or you are dependent on the government stealing the assets of others and giving them to you.

Yea, but that's just as bad a solution as totalitarianism. We have no government, schools and hospitals and roads won't be funded and maintained except out of the owners' pockets, which means the rich jerks get to control everything much more.

Seinfeld's skull-cracking speech makes the best point in this case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgOUgrOHuFc
No guns = no guns killing people. Period. There's not argument in the world that can win this premise.
But for this to be applied, humans need to be smart, and that's another issue.

When has any government ever effectively regulated anything out of the hands of the people who want it?
The answer is never.
Last I checked murder is illegal and that's still going on. Also most of the time people are using clubs and knives to commit murder.
If there were to be any kind of a gun ban or gun confiscation program most gun owners would treat it with varying degrees of non-compliance as they would be morally obligated to do.

The one related to holding hands in Dubai is not really heavily enforced. I've seen many people doing it in public or in shopping centres.. and nothing happened.
Comment has been collapsed.
Honestly, such laws are not really observed or enforced. I've been working in the middle east for the past one year now and what I've seen is that, since they are a Muslim conservative country, they tend to get really uncomfortable when they see public display of affections. But if someone does hold hands or kiss, its not like they are waiting to jump on you and crackdown on it.
Now in UK, we see holding hands etc as acceptable but we are generally very prudish when it comes to kissing in public. It all depends on the cultural value of the country. For example, here when you greet really close friends or acquaintances, you always kiss the cheeks three times, left, then right, and then left. even among men. Its considered a norm (though not btw male and female). Its two people sharing an intimate kiss (like a french kiss) that is considered Taboo for them.
In most cases, expatriates are very accommodating of local sentiments and stuff like kissing etc you'll see mainly at airports. No one really pays attention to people hugging or holding hands.

When did this become a political discussion? I'm just trying to tell about my experiences. That's why I mentioned that I've been working here only for 1 year now. I don't know everything about the place.
Now if you wanna hear about the least humanitarian laws, the its not silly stuff like this, its the labor laws. Trust me mate, the laborers and minimum wage workers here have it really bad. My friends say that couple of years ago, the road works laborers had to work in the searing heat in the afternoon (when temp reaches around 49 deg Celsius) until recent international attention in the area forced them to make lot of changes to make them look better in the eyes of the world.

Well that law is in most of the countries.
To be precise, most countries allow small quantities to be in possession, but distribution is prohibited. This is due the fact of human right where you cant be prohibited to smoking - /sidenote: technically you can do what ever you want when you have power /sidenote. Same as you cant arrest junky for being junky, but can arrest someone for illegal trade.

In Sweden it's illegal to buy sex but legal to sell it, if I remember correctly. It's the same principle. You can't smoke it if you're not allowed to possess it. I simplifies the law, because if you can't do one, you can't do the other by default.

There's no proof of it. Sure, it's possible, the Hiv virus most likely came from monkeys and does spread via exchange of body fluids, such as it happens during sex, but also other cases, like via blood. So sure, it's possible, but far from comfirmed, and so I'll call it a myth.

well u could just open up wikipedia OR search at all b4 posting I would say... "Origins:
Both HIV-1 and HIV-2 are believed to have originated in non-human primates in West-central Africa and were transferred to humans in the early 20th century.[5] HIV-1 appears to have originated in southern Cameroon through the evolution of SIV(cpz), a simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) that infects wild chimpanzees (HIV-1 descends from the SIVcpz endemic in the chimpanzee subspecies Pan troglodytes troglodytes).[192][193] The closest relative of HIV-2 is SIV(smm), a virus of the sooty mangabey (Cercocebus atys atys), an Old World monkey living in coastal West Africa (from southern Senegal to western CΓ΄te d'Ivoire).[66] New World monkeys such as the owl monkey are resistant to HIV-1 infection, possibly because of a genomic fusion of two viral resistance genes.[194] HIV-1 is thought to have jumped the species barrier on at least three separate occasions, giving rise to the three groups of the virus, M, N, and O.[195]"

1) I already know all of what you posted. HIV strains developed from SIV strains, yes, but
2) HIV did not come into being from "humans raping monkeys", as you so nicely put it.
Your original post is still as ridiculous as it ever was.
Also, not that it's relevant - but I am 30 (in August). As for what you said about Wikipedia - it often is either incomplete, un-sourced, or flat-out wrong. The only thing that matters are proper, verified sources for info. Regardless of the site.
Comment has been collapsed.
I've seen tons of wrong or so incomplete that it could be considered wrong info. on Wikipedia over the years. I cannot name specific examples, but when for example one of my ex-gfs went to university studying "General Cultural Studies" (quite an in-depth study, very broad topics, also a lot of art / cultural / sociological history) she wasn't allowed to use Wikipedia as a source for this very reason. We'd work on some of her papers, essays etc. together, and we'd bump into stuff on Wikipedia that was entirely untrue concerning specific historical figures, paintings, etc. She'd have fully researched text books from professors that spent years making those books, or that were the original people who studied the topic we were reading about on Wikipedia, that contradicted what was said there. We'd also sometimes see stuff on Wikipedia that was part of an urban legend, or a common misconception that a lot of people believed to be true. As a platform made and edited by random people on the internet, it inherently is susceptible to such flaws.
And if you genuinely think HIV spread to human kind because people had sex with monkeys, you must be both an absolute moron, as well as not understand a single thing about biology / epidemiology. First off, you yourself said "well since HIV exists cuz they raped monkeys" - meaning you were saying it came into being through people fucking monkeys. Second, it couldn't even have spread that way - monkeys and apes carried SIV, not HIV. It had to mutate to become HIV. Besides that, it is entirely possible that SIV isn't even sexually transmittable to humans. I also wonder if you understand the distinction between a monkey and an ape, though I suspect not.
And again - there is not a single university in the world where it was ever, or will ever be taught that humans raping monkeys formed HIV, or that that was how the species barrier was jumped.

Or did you know that it is illegal to wear a bullet-proof vest during a crime in New Jersey? WTF...so...you're in a shootout with the cops but you don't wear a vest so you won't get a fine?
It is worth noting that some laws are made to punish people further, not necessarily to prevent people from doing it. For an example, if a criminal goes on a shootout with a bullet resistant vest, they're probably considered more dangerous and should be put away longer than most criminals. Slapping on any nit-picky charges is usually how they do this, like resisting arrest and such, but this law in place for a vest was likely implemented for a specific scenario like this where they wont have as many problems putting the criminal away for as long as possible. Similar laws to this are ones like how Arcade machines are illegal in some places. This is a law because it was considered gambling for some time, but now it is okay. However, places like Portland has the law still in place and enforces it only when there is situations like when an arcade is considered too noisy for the public. The city probably cannot tell a business to fuck off for being noisy, but they can say "Arcade machines are illegal, so gtfo." Luckily, it isn't a law necessarily abused and the government typically helps the arcade find a new location anyways. Just a different perspective.
Also, guns shouldn't be illegal, but they sure shouldn't be a right either. They should get the same treatment as driving, or perhaps stricter. Gotta have a license to buy a gun and fire it, etc.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just because of one scenario you make incomplete law? Considering how gun happy americans are it is stupid even to go to school without a vest, not to mention if you are planing to rob a house....
I don't know where are you from, but in most of Europe, guns are legal, but you need permit to carry it, same as drivers license, meaning you have to pass all required medical, physical and physiological test to issue request for it. And after that there is commission which debate of approve.
Even police officers and other people who's job require to carry a firearm, cant carry it if off duty without personal license.

This again... These laws will remain forever because it costs tax-payer money to remove the dead laws. The Progressives might bring up some dead laws during an election year in case they can't find another SJW distraction. It is not like they are paying for it and it reeks of feel good legislation points.
Comment has been collapsed.
Incorrect. Most systems of law don't allow for removal or entire repeal of specific laws or by-laws, only amendments to be made to them. Which in itself is ridiculous. Anyway, after a while, a new law / amendment specifying tolerance / acceptance if <x> condition is or isn't met is enacted, and the old law is simply no longer enforced. Also, a lot of these old laws applied to very specific situations in older days, that just don't happen any more.
Comment has been collapsed.
... So what? You're free to go where and do what you want, including skipping town and never returning, in the meantime. And as long as you're not in jail, you're not being punished. You're still buying freedom - at the price of a small inconvenience - and paying the state off for your crimes. It's a perverted and entirely exploitable system, and encourages corruption.
Comment has been collapsed.
Lol, what? The "feds"? As in, the FBI? They only have jurisdiction in the good ol' USA. Any police force only has jurisdiction in a specific region or area. If I commit a crime in the USA, then leave for some place in Europe, and upon arrival rent a car and drive a couple of hundred clicks to my final destination / new place to live, they can't / won't do jack shit. Especially if I adopt a new identity, I'm safe. Also, the severity of my crime (as well as how severe a crime what I did is considered where I end up at) is relevant. If what I did wasn't bad enough, they won't even put any effort into requesting extradition. At most, they might turn the case over to Interpol (who have jurisdiction in Europe), who might then try to do a quick look for me, and (if they even find me) inform local police of what I did in the States - which might still not end up getting me in trouble at all, unless what I did was, say, kill a family, or head a major drug ring. Well, actually, what would get me in the most trouble would be white-collar crimes, fraud, that sort of thing. They hate it when you fuck with the money.

I've been doing a bit of reading lately and i stumbled upon this list of moronic and stupid laws from all around the world...
Some of them are funny, some of them are sad, i guess they all have a story but after reading those, i'm starting to think a lot better about my country, Romania.
As a few examples for the funny ones, did you know that in Atlanta, Georgia it is illegal to tie a giraffe to a telephone pole? It's funny because who owns a giraffe?
Or did you know that it is illegal to wear a bullet-proof vest during a crime in New Jersey? WTF...so...you're in a shootout with the cops but you don't wear a vest so you won't get a fine?
Of maybe funniest,in China, it is illegal to reincarnate, without permission from the government. :) Isn't that the whole point of the Buddhism?
And now a few less funny, did you know that in Greece, video games were illegal a few years ago?
Or that in Dubai is illegal to show any affection in public like kissing or holding hands :|
I'd write some more but i'm a bit sleepy.
Some world we live in right?
