I remember that European Court ruled that GabeN must allow people to sell games they have purchased in Steam. Any news about this? I have lots of crap I would gladly sell or give away, but there certainly is no such option in Steam. Is the court's decision already binding or does Valve still have time? If it's already in operation, how can I sell my stuff?

Nope, nothing new.

It depends on the legal system of your country. If you wanted to sell used games, you would most likely have to claim your due in court and that would cost more than what you would make from the sale.

That ruling was specific to the case and the companies involved. Obvoiusly people will push for expansion but it hasnt happened yet

Thank you, good to know it, albeit it is disappointing.

the vzbv is already on its way, but they need time since everything goes the bureaucratic way. Don't expect them to be ready before HL3

A court also ruled that Valve did not violate German law by not letting them sell them, so the group is in legal battle with valve again the last time i checked (someone posted about it on these forums a few weeks ago)

Being able to sell steamgames you own would be a bad thing for everybody.

  • More expensive games
  • Less off the money goes to the developpers. A big part will go to people who sell their games after playing them.

Maybe steam should make people able to sell their games on community market but at a 50% goes to the developpers and 50% to the guys selling... This would make it less bad and people would be able to sell their games.
