The last time I played Terraria was really long time ago.. it was just released and people didn't like it because its a crappy minecraft 2d copy cat.. but I played over a hundred hours of it and now.. I tried it and I don't know how to walk.

That being said, new players or returning players are welcome. I don't want regular players spoiling it.. so lets discover the world of terraria together?

You know where to find me, (also, do we need to host a server?)

I got Terraria a year or so ago, but only played it for like an hour or so because I didn't really get the controls or what I was supposed to do first. I hear that it's a really fun game though, so I'd be down to try it out again. I've got a good enough laptop to where it should run with no lag, but I just recovered a desktop from near destruction so I should have that running with internet eventually as well.

Yeah, I know. I didn't get that impression though. It was so different from Minecraft, even back at launch.

I can see why people would say that but you can definitely see it had a different playstyle being 2D sidescrolling.

To me Terraria feels more like "If Zelda and Minecraft had a baby" than just "2D Minecraft".

I mean this as a compliment.

I'd join but I'm probably what you're referring to by 'regular player' so I wish ya'll a fun time and I'm gonna stay out of the way. Just a tip, the Official Terraria wiki is truly helpful.

So, any company for a first time player? Terraria sounds cool, I've never played it, yet I own it.

It was a year ago since I played it last time, I started again lately on expert, everything kills me :)

Yeah, as well as playing on a MP server with a couple of friends I also started a SP playthrough on expert mode... It's challenging! Make a habit to store your money in a chest or something so you can buy stuff when you need otherwise the monsters will just pick them up.

They upped the difficulty pretty much everywhere. Supposedly the more ppl you have in multiplayer the harder the bosses are supposed to be. But definitely it's increased in expert mode. I recommend having a high level minion (even if you don't have a summoner build) to help watch your back also if you're a magic user razorblade typhoon, razorpine, or blizzard staff, spectre armor, celestial cuffs and a star veil. The star veil will prevent you from being killed too quickly the armor will help heal you everytime you hit something with one of the weapons and the cuffs will help recharge your magic. And I agree with darkdude make a habit of storing your money. If you don't know what any of the things I've mentioned are or where to find them.. again the wiki helps a lot in this capacity.

Better than Minecraft completly. At least Terraria is an adventure game with some action, and not only put blocks on the floor and wait something happend. Also i'm near end this new patch.

Minecraft has no story what so ever.
Only progression in minecraft is what you can mine... literally.
Until adventure mode comes and gets good minecraft is nothing.
Terraria might seem a lot less but is actually a lot more!!!

Have to be honest, a few days in I am not feeling the 1.3 patch at all. Yeah, the new endgame content is nice. But the new early game content is almost universally really tough to take on with actual early game gear, and it feels like a really blatant attempt to herd people into multiplayer whether they want to be there or not. Maybe I've just forgotten how tough Terraria is without beetle armor and wings? haha

I'll give it more time but it's definitely been more frustrating to play post-1.3 patch, for me.

I've been playing Terraria off and on for quite some time. My few attempts at multiplayer didn't go well do to one person ruining the experience for me by being...erm..."socially inept." These days, I still play it, but mostly with my nieces. (One at a time, since they share the same computer.)

Anyhow, if somebody were to invite me to play multiplayer with decent people I would definitely consider it.

Feel free to add me if you want to play! :D I would prefer to teamspeak/chat with people while I play though, it feels kinda detached just typing/not saying anything.

Not tried Terraria yet, but I would be willing to give it a shot if we can get some people together.
