First
Congratulations, I need to start applying to universities and I'm 100% not looking forward to it...
Then again, I might not graduate so, that would solve that problem :P

Damn, you robbed me of being first in my own topic. Rip.
And thank you very much, I would 100% recommend applying. I was honestly so anxious about getting replies, and Leicester was up there with my choices so it was so good to get that e-mail. Still waiting on the University of Birmingham ^^

Is that your deleted comment?
Do English universities want applications so early? Here, it's application time after exams have been done and whatnot

But is it like that in most universities in England? I would've been interested in maybe coming to London or something, but it would be too late anyway?

You can definitely still apply, but I would highly recommend not going London. Life's too expensive and the universities are not even that great (Unless you're going LSE or something). There are plenty of other greater and cheaper unis around the UK.

Yes, but here there is mainly advertising from London, I know almost nothing about other universities in the UK...

Oh, I remember that!
The predictions my teachers gave me were actually lower than what I got later on though :p so little faith in me XD
Anyway, congrats :)

Good luck~
I'm sure you'll be able to put the effort in knowing you have this offer ;)
I think I managed to get a whole two grades over some predictions for my A levels 8)

Ahhh I see
I decided not to retake anything to concentrate on the next exams, but that might work out better for you
Just take your time to study, cramming's no good >.<

It could be, if he wanted to write something and decided to delete, but with the edit button, I just don't see why...

Many thanks, and I realised I'm being a little stupid to say UK only. I'd be interested to find out about uni life in general, so if there's something that stands out for you please let me know. I don't know too much about it, I just know my mum had a good time and said nothing's like uni life. XD

Well, in my first year there were some basic knowledge lessons (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths) that were kind of easy, lots of stuff from previous years. And soms specific lessons that were a bit harder.
This year is quite harder, I'm currently studying for my next examn (that is this friday).
I don't go out very much, but most of the people who do didn't have the greatest scores for the examns previous year (so keep a nice balance).

If you don't already know a lot of CS, find out what language the first course is in and study up. Know the different data structures (hashes, linked lists, etc.), maybe how to build a binary tree, and how to sort data.
I get the sense from the post that you're decently intelligent but first-year CS in particular can be brutal as the uni tries to weed out people who aren't serious about the major.
Good luck and congratulations!

I had a surprisingly small amount of physics related stuff in my courses. Math was a pretty high level but for the cs students that applied last year they threw out almost all math related courses from the schedule. A bit sad. What's left is all the logic stuff.

Congratulations! Hope you wont find it difficult and get the best out of this :)
I am a student but unfortunately not in UK, even though I am really looking forward trying to study there for a Master Degree. That is, after I eventually graduate of course :D

congratulations! i have a computer science job but my degree is in electrical engineering -- maybe you'll do the opposite?

Congrats and GOOD LUCK! Also a rule you may want to follow is for everyone 1hr of class study 4 hrs which does suck but is worth it.

I'm kidding, I give lectures at my local technology university. Congrats!

depends what you are going to study, if it is IT or natural sciences or something related to technology then you will be probably fine.
If it is something else then it depends on how well you study and what is the current status of the employment rate in that field (I'm assuming that the UK is similar to other parts of Europe and IT and technology positions are more vacant and pay better)
EDIT: lol I read your original text again and the first sentence had the answer already. I guess I should read more carefully.
I teach at the IT department and it's quite easy to get a good job in IT in my country (Estonia), should be the same in UK. Good IT guys are sought after.

Yup, that's pretty much why I decided to follow the path of computers. Good pay, less competition. Should be great and the course looks fantastic, I mean AI (Artificial Intelligence) studies look fantastic and just can't wait to get to do it. :D

So, today has been quite the day. I received my first reply since I applied for my course (Computer Science). I was just in maths lesson, casually doing some trigonometry as you do, and I felt a vibration coming from my pocket. Instinctively, I reached to grab my phone, assuming I was either getting raided on Clash of Clans or I received another crappy offer to enlarge my p---s or to get a free trial with Brazzers, but, to my surprise, it was from the University of Leicester (British uni, quite high rated and one of my preferred choice). At the start, I thought to myself (Damn, this better not be ''Hello Alin, it is with great sadness we have to inform you that we are unable to offer you a place...'' sort of email.)
However, when I opened up my email, all I see is 'Your University of Leicester Offer''. At that point, I was speechless. I wasn't sure how to react, I was just extremely happy and thought 'Damn, my first reply is an offer? GET IN!'. As you do, I stopped my maths teacher half-way through the lesson whilst she was solving a fairly complicated trig question and let the rest of my class know just how hyped I was.
Therefore, I thought it would be appropriate to share my happiness with the beautiful community of steamgifts and it's amazing members. Also, if you are a UK university student or even better, a University of Leicester student, please let me know how stuff is and some of the things I should expect.
Thanks for reading this, and here's a little something, thanks for taking some time of out of your lifespan to experience my joy.
Sorry it's not much, but my budget is so meeeeh right now.
EDIT: I did just realise I might be a little stupid. Technically speaking, I have only received an offer that I still have to match in summer with my exam results. So, technically speaking I have not really been accepted, but personally, as I know myself, I know there is no way I won't match that offer based on my work, hence why I'm already considering myself accepted (I also intend to get higher than the ABB offer, just in case Birmingham get back to me :D)
