I use it for some stuff i can't find on YouTube, search engine is lousy, might not have as much content, but it's a good alternative.
Google is scarily dominating the internet, i personally got problems with their shitty captcha system (says too many queries, more people got that but they refuse to fix it).

yeah, same answer I'd have written
not youtube at all for tons of reasons but on dailymotion one can find lots of videos totally unavailable on yt
anyways it's for me definitely the best video alternative to yt, just you won't find youtubers videos and so on but you'll find lots of concerts and such
obviously answering to OP and not talking about vpn proxy or whatever

When was the last time you checked? Places where only Hughes Net options used to be now have access to services like Exede.

Ahhh, the effects of repealing Net Neutrality are starting to show their head.
Have you tried using a VPN?

Nahh man, ISPs totally have our best interests in mind.

We already have this situation but it is marketed better, e.g. we have monthly data limits but if you are with Telstra broadband then Apple Music, BigPond Movies and Foxtel from Telstra are unmetered, and if you use iiNet then Netflix Australia, iTunes Australia (downloads only) and iiNet TV with Fetch are unmetered. iiNet also hosts Steam mirrors that are unmetered for iiNet customers. I use a little program called Steam Limiter to ensure that Steam only uses the iiNet mirrors, thus ensuring that Steam downloads are "free" (included in my monthly fee). This software is all above board and even promoted by iiNet.

True, I did notice there's a similar thing with Spotify as well for no-limits use with a certain ISP. And it's proof there's no restrictions on this kinda deal-making I suppose, but I thought here it was at least not at the stage of outright charging for a particular internet service to be used at all? 😕

Yeah, the "sorry, you have to pay to access YouTube" way of doing things certainly leaves a bad taste in the mouth and I haven't heard of any Australian ISPs doing it that way. I'm guessing that it is a budget internet plan that doesn't have monthly data limits and has chosen to manage data traffic by removing access to YouTube (and presumably other video streaming sites). It doesn't seem like a very sensible way of doing business because the outrage at having YouTube blocked will trump any goodwill they got by advertising their lack of data limits, plus they have created work for themselves because they now have to maintain a list of forbidden video streaming sites and mirrors.

They may still pull the video from google's servers and therefore not work, but you could try hooktube.com or invidio.us
VPN might be your best shot, and if it's blocked here are some methods to hide the traffic as https: https://www.bestvpn.com/guides/how-to-hide-openvpn-traffic-an-introduction/

Same to all of that. Seriously considering cancelling Netflix :D

Over half of your country has decided that this change is good for you, please don't disagree with the majority, they could take the offense, thank you very much good sir. You have a freedom to complain as much as you wish in 100% democratic country where majority of fools population is deciding what is the best for you.

You mean, like the majority that treats you like an outcast when you don't want to use GAFAMs?

Oh hey, well wouldja look at that. Exactly what we said would happen if we let Net Neutrality die.

Called my ISP. They charge for it
this sounds so unreal it could pass a a joke in a ~2010 movie. 🤦♀️
i wonder where are the idiots that supported this change in this thread. they must be so happy.

Your ISP is charging you to access YouTube? I presume this is about the data associated with streaming videos and would also apply to things like Netflix and other video streaming sites as they discover them. Is that right? Do they not have monthly data limits on internet plans there?

Interesting choice of message... that message is what you would get if you are logged in to a G Suite account and your admin has disabled access to youtube @_@
Just for sanity check, are you logged into any g suite account? Have you tried using incognito mode or another browser?

Indeed, unless ISPs reached a new low and have decided it's okay to spoof websites, this does look like an error message from Google themselves, not the ISP.

And beware that since a recent update, logging into an account on Chrome itself means you're also logged into that account on all Google websites, and vice-versa. So if you have an account for work or even school you logged into anywhere in the Chrome ecosystem, it could be the one blocking access to youtube with that message.

Please, edit your post. Not everyone know what this site is about. And you didn't tag it properly
Piracy, pornography, and other material that may be inappropriate to a general audience should not be posted to the site. If you're posting anything that may be considered NSFW (not safe for work), please prefix any links or images with a NSFW tag to warn others.

Links, I didn't post a link though, just a name, it can lead to different websites depending on the ending, and if you google it it will tell you what it is. And if you google it and you have safe settings (children-mode) on, you won't be able to find it. So there's that.
Edit: Just to add to that, PORN is clearly telling what kind of website it is.

Untagged links or names of porn sites were already deleted by cg directly, when user refused to edit comment or tag it properly.
And I won't discuss it can lead to different websites depending on the ending, and if you google it it will tell you what it is. And if you google it and you have safe settings (children-mode) on, you won't be able to find it. So there's that, because someone could copy name to google, when being on web browser normally used by their parents etc. It's not argument in your favor. Also not everyone is fluent in english, there are people that have very low english understanding here. You can't expect everyone to know meaning of every word you use.
There is rule about posting inappropriate content, and it doesn't matter if you post untagged hyperlink, link without hyperlink or simple name. You either tag it in proper way, or not post it at all.

Oki oki, I already added [NSFW] tag before I started commenting on the tag itself, but just to argue the tag, if one doesn't know what porn means in English (which is pretty much the same in every language, and in Asian and some Middle-East countries the most known pornographic websites, like the one I posted are straight banned, in fact Google is banned as well, and if you know how to use VPN, you sure know what porn is), but if you're not good English I highly doubt the tag [NSFW] would be sufficient.
I think also most known gore- websites and platforms should be tagged as well, since they don't censor porn nor gore-material and ask your age only once, which is easy to bypass, just like on Steam. I'm talking about [NSFW]Reddit, [NSFW]Liveleak.

Wow, you're the first person I've seen whose been so blatantly screwed by the death of net neutrality.
I'm moving in a little over a week and so will need to switch my ISP, a little worried now :(

Except in reality it works like them all having the same lowest price to not lose customers. One drops prices, others have to follow. One raises prices, others laugh with all their new customers. That's why I pay 10€ for 100/100 at home and 17€ for 100/x on phone. The high price of 4G is fault of EU's free roaming, it used to be much cheaper as well. And even with those prices and after investing in the network, they make tons of profit.

Anyone know of an alternative I can use?
