I keep thinking that someone will eventually explain the greatness in some, for me, understandable way because I have a hard time believing it's just the lewd aspect, especially with all the free porn out there, allegedly :P
OTOH I don't understand the greatness of anime in general so I might just be a lost case :)

For what it's worth I'm in the same camp as you. I am not big on anime either although there are a few that I will make an exception for, though definitely not anything with annoying voices (in Japanese or otherwise) that to me are like scratching on a chalkboard. As far as animated porn goes I have to roll my eyes at it.

I'm fully with you on the voices but I can get aroused by animated porn, or maybe rather cartoon porn as I don't think I've seen any animated porn. It's just not a big enough deal for me to pursue in any way.

I get that but I guess I just don't see the point of faux porn when there is no shortage of free real porn. Why anyone would take imitation anything over the real thing (if it were free) is beyond me. That's ignoring things like ethical or environmental concerns, etc. in some odd cases, but as a general rule it stands.
As far as anime goes I am very much turned off my immature themes as well, which kind of goes hand in hand with the voice thing at times.

I think i understand, at least partially, the point of cartoon/animated porn, there's probably a mix of leaving things to your imagination and being able to exaggerate certain aspects :)
