Did you enjoy fallout new vegas more than fallout 3?

I don't like any fallout games
Skyrim is better

if you want more xp skill points, go for int 9 first (10 is a waste since there's a +1 int bobblehead).

i can't vote, i liked them both equally ;_;

edited because i was thinking of another fallout

I plan on replaying both. I think I liked Fallout 3 best because I liked the story line and the whole concept of the game was new to me at the time. At first I chose specs and points related to combat, but I found I enjoyed spending points on things which made the game-play more interesting like charisma, speech and the unique sounding skills.

It depends on how you like to play. I always play with a lot of charisma and perception. One thing in New Vegas that is really important - wild wasteland perk :3

Sadly charisma in NV is practically useless cause most of dialogue options have alternative skill checks :\

Each point in CH adds 5% damage and HP to all active companions.

Which still kill things before i can melee them towards the challenges with 1 charisma...
I'm always going for talk/sneak builds and you can count charisma as a combat stat pretty much :\

Well, yeah. Since the game was never meant to focus on combat, just gave something the player to pass the time with during walking, it is laughably easy even for a newbie.

Where's the hipster option for people like me who claim the isometric Fallouts were the best ones and the new ones could never quite compare ?

Old school fanboy here

While New Vegas doesnt have the quality of the old games its pretty damn close. Id say its the middle point between the classic games and the newer ones

with a high intelligence you get more XP per kill/quest complete/place found etc... so it will help you get levels faster, it also unlocks the Intelligence conversation options, apart from that is decide how you want to play, be sneaky? be a sniper? use melee weapons? etc..

New Vegas is such a great game, hope you have fun :D

Abilities = S.P.E.C.I.A.L ?

I actually had a lot of Endurance (8 or 9), so I could get all of the of the implants from the clinic. I also went for a higher Luck rating like 6 or 7, but just because I wanted to get the Casino achivements - and this is pretty much essential for these. (making cash at the casino games)

you don't actually need more than 4 Intelligence points to max out your skill points with books and perks, that better the quality of skill books. But you may want a Higher INT for some speech options.

I also just had a low rating in charisma as there didn't seem to be that many, speech options that were charisma dependant and I didn't cared for my companions :)

The rest was more or less at average

Increase your chosen combat skill (guns, if you are a first-timer, energy weapons if you are familiar with the world, melee if you want actual dps, and unarmed if you really want to do insane amount of damage when you resort to combat… and yes, the skill most people deem the worst is actually the highest dps one). On top of that, increase repair and speech. These three are usually the best choice for tag skills on the first play through.
Also, focus on barter and lockpick, and don't neglect science and medicine either.
If you play hardcore, survival gets into second tier in importance, otherwise it can be skipped for the most part.

Sneaking can be a very effective skill, since it is usually most beneficial to avoid enemies you cannot talk out of a fight, but it is almost useless under 80 points and the silent run perk. (Fighting never gives you anything worthwhile: the bulk of the XP is in quests, all good items are at fixed containers or vendors, and accidentally killing the wrong person can get assassins on you for the rest of the game or lock you out of entire quest lines, like how almost no new players ever find the I Fought the Law quest.)

Edit: if you meant SPECIAL, then put 5 in ST if you use guns, 2 if energy weapons, 7-8 if using melee/unarmed; put 6 in PE for perk requirements, 6-7 on IN to get some decent skill points (with the DLC you can max out every single skill with an IN of 3), 5-6 in AG for perks, 5+ in LU for the casinos. CH is usually a dump skill unless you play a diplomatic, speech-based character, and EN is oly used to get some implants which are, all and all, a very good way to blow tens of thousands of caps for 2-3% boost in a skill you could have boosted more with a 500-cap attire.
