It's not a game design program, it's for making 3d art. You buy the models, download them and the free program, then set up your scenes and make pretty (or ugly, if that's how you roll) pictures. Also, you have to read the licenses to know what you can or can't do, as almost all of them do not allow you to sell or distribute the models in any way, shape or form, aside from pictures. That means unless you have the license or express permission, you can't use them in games.

I've been a visitor of that site for a long time, just got an email announcing this.

Never tried the software myself, but i heard its a really nice piece, hope its not that much of a change with Maya or 3DSmax

When did it ever cost money to make a game?
Sit down with a thick ass C++ book and start from scratch.

Not sure if they include the game engine plug-in for free. Bryce is supposed to be popular though. Hexagon seems interesting, though you can probably do more with Blender if you can get past it being impossible to learn.

Nice software. I played some with the previous version of DAZ, and it wasn't perfect but was much better than Poser 2, which was the last time I paid for that kind of software. I'm more on the programming side of things, though.

Not that I'd want to make a game for free. I want to be paid for it, dammit!

(Well, frankly I could probably be paid for helping develop a game, but I choose otherwise for family's sake.)

DAZ is just for 3D modeling and animation.

As for making a game, you need to actually learn how to code the game before these assets even become important.

Modelling is one of the least important and easiest parts of game design...

Do you even model at all?

I use Daz products myself, and have been for almost 10 years. The models are really high quality, and very cheap compared to say, turbosquid. The most expensive part is licensing. only one vendor actually has a game developer license for his products, and that cost upward to 1000 bucks.

Download Visual c# express and XNA framework and you're ready to go. -> Free and probably the easiest. Use paint.net for graphics :P
