If it works that's not the worst deal I've seen.

Yes. Buy it if you have money to buy games.

If you subscribe to PS+ then you will not have to buy games.

+1 Definitely do this, it looks like such a great deal :)

It's practically rental. When you run out of PS+, all the PS+ games disappear. And some of them disappear after time even if you have the membership. I remember some having a 2-month "rental" time, and then you can't play them anymore. So there's that.

The games will keep being in your account if you just remember to "download" them. (You can just press "download" and then cancel. Then they will be with your account)

Thereafter you will just have to have a subscription ongoing and you will be flooded with loads of great games. I have mostly stopped buying multiplatform games because PS+ gives many of them.

And as I wrote; "If you subscribe to PS+"

Notice the word "subscribe"? Yeah, I DID write that you need to keep an ongoing subscription.

Well, PS3 was originally $300 when it came out, if I recall correctly. Either that, or it dropped to $300( which is most likely its price to this date ). It's a good deal, because the controllers are somewhere around $20-30 per.

The release price in Europe was €599.

Ah, right. Well, the PS3 itself is still at a higher price than 155 $.

controllers are $39.99 each now, was $59.99, and price of the new released ps3 was $499-$599 depending on if it was a 20GB or 60GB.
An 80 GB is ok not the best but you can get a FAT32 3.5" HD and put that in instead of the 80GB. trust me those 80GB go FAST

Not true. The 20 gig and 80 gig could.

But later they took out the BC for newer models.

not true it was the 20GB-60GB CECHA/CECHB models were backwards compatible the 60GB-80GB CECHC/CECHE Models are limited backwards compatible, some games dont work. and they took it out because the original fatty becomes a space heater and thats how the soder melts and you get the YLOD the 60GB-80GB CECHC/CECHE has just software BC where 20GB-60GB CECHA/CECHB has a hardware BC

Is it worth it to you? Personally, I prefer PC games, and am not willing to spend anywhere near that amount for the few interesting looking exclusives.
Even if the PS3 was free, the games are too expensive.

I know. I only want it to play exclusives, all the rest I play on PC. I struggle somewhat with the fact that it´s only for 10 games maximun, but some game like Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us or God of War are amazing games

The Last Of Us is one of the best games I've ever played, worth playing if it was the only game I played on my ps3 (which I got for free :P)

if you get plus for 1 year thats $49.99, last year they gave away 68 games.not just small games either, this year so far they gave, infamous 2, LBP 2, Sleeping dogs, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Saints row 3, XCOM. and MORE. so was paying $49.99 for those games and more too expensive? and if Gamestop stopped screwing the Devs then maybe they might allow prices to lower quickly, seeing as everyone would profit.

Well of course, $50 for all of those amazing games is a steal. But you do not get all of those games, only the privilege of being able to play them for a year.

you can play them as long as you have plus. once a year they have a "buy 1 year sub get 3 months free" and you can DL them as many times as you like and you can game share all DL content with 2 PS3's it used to be 5 PS3's ive had plus when it came out, stopped using it for a year and a half, renewed it and got all the games i ever received on plus unlocked. even at rental prices thats a steal

If you can.. its a nice price otherwise PC is better as games are more cheap .. when most new games for PS3 are around $40 - $60 .. i own PS3 my self. but i prefer playing on PC most of the times.

Why don't you just wait till PS4 is out?
You'll get a brand new PS3 much cheaper than this 2nd hand 80GB fat one...
Unless... it has an old firmware you Jack Sparrow!

Last time I checkced, PS4 isn't backwards compatible. Unless they change it, it'd be worth it to just get PS3, because there's many games worth buying just for the PS3.

He means that when the PS4 is out, the PS3 should hopefully drop in price more. Especially in the second-hand markets

PS4 isn´t backwards compatible with PS3. The problem is, in 3 years all the PS3 second handed will be 3 years more. So it will be difficult find one that works

That's why I'd suggest getting the latest PS3 and just keeping it in a safe.

for 120€ no, ppl sells it for less than 100€.....and my suggestion if you get it, pirate it, if you want to play a lot of games on it, since console is old too. In Europe buying games cost too much, even olds ( not counting UK)

It also depends on how much you think you will end up using it; games take up a lot of space, even on a PS. If you see yourself downloading a bunch of stuff from the PS Store or signing up for PS+, 80 gb ain't going to last you long which means you will have to cough up with extra cash for a new HDD. Not that they are expensive or anything, but it is worth taking into consideration.

Depending on how many exclusives you plan to play, the 80 gb could still be a problem. There's the Uncharted games, Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank, InFamous, God of War, Heavy Rain, Killzone, some of the Metal Gear Solid games are exclusive as well if I remember correctly...

That is of course unless you only plan to play a few of them at the same time and delete the game data afterwards and don't get PS+ in which case you will be fine. But trust me; the even 250gb slims away fast.

JUST GET A PS4

Comment has been collapsed.

wait for a PS4 bro.

I don't think that's a good deal especially since the FAT PS3s overheat after 3-4 years of normal use. If you don't plan on getting a PS4, I would still recommend dropping $120 more and getting the Uncharted PS3 bundle, it comes with a year of PS+ which you could use to build an instant game library or sell (worth $50).

the fat ps3's had some issues with ylod. Just make sure the ps3 works before you buy it. Btw I have 2 slim ps3's and one fat one that broke down a few years after from ylod.

Other than that I would buy it1

saying that is £103 and game sells pre owned (slim 120GB) ones for £90 (€104) and a controller you can get for new for £20 (€23), i paid £20 for my official one new. i would say its bad. Taking into account the controller preowned would be what £10-£15 (€11-€17) you could get it from a shop for cheaper (however game is out of stock at the moment and not sure if they are uk only).

oh it turns out cash generator going price is about £90 (€104) for a fat 80GB one, so if you can buy from a shop for less then you can a friend is asking for, so it's a bad deal. a shop would give him what about half of the price he is asking
