I was in the middle of installing the drivers, when suddenly I got a blue screen about something.sys and then when it restarted, all the USB's were disabled, drivers malfunctioned.

Had the same sh on beta drivers. Anyone know a fix? My mobo is a ASRock 970 Pro 3 R2.0

Hell, "performance fixes"???
Crap, last time I installed updates, I couldn't have sound, I couldn't play videos, and my mouse pointer stuttered.
But unfortunately you are right... Installing updates is required for everyday tasks of using a computer. :(

^yep my point exactly.. havent u learned yet? there was even a tool named "ati removal tool" why do you think this existed? because of happiness and prosperity? rule: "whatever works we don't mess with it"

^ that rule is excluded for security updates when we mess with ssl type situations ..

Which OS? If it's Windows, run command line as administrator (or use the run dialog) and run "sfc /scannow" in it (without quotation marks). It fixes some registry errors and stuff. If that doesn't work, you can restore the system to an earlier state with those system restore points.

I wouldn't be here if I didn't restore my system.

So you've run sfc already? Check the event manager (or whatever it's called) in administration tools if there are any errors listed.

Ironic. My friend had the same problems with his USB ports after installing the latest Nvidia drivers as well. Might be something with the new Windows 8.1 update?

my biggest gripe about 14.x beta drivers is if you duplicate 2 monitors, the 2nd monitor won't duplicate the screen properly when playing full screen games, only at main. (I needed this feature for game recording using elgato)

only whql drivers only works in my tests. So this new whql patch might be what I need

Once I downloaded new driver because Steam told me that I have an update available. I couldn't watch videos because I got some green screen instead of video. After going to sleep mode it was fixed. (Sorry if you don't understand what I say. I don't use English every day)

That AsRock board came with an install CD holding USB(3) drivers. How about installing those again?

On Topic: You can do roll back for drivers, there is built-in functionality in windows in Recovery menu, or if you cant boot you your PC regular, go to safe mode and in device menager, there is roll-back option for each device. Also, try avoiding beta drivers, and insta-updates, wait month or so if you really want to have newest drivers, so others test the waters for you.

Off Topic: I know this is kinda off topic, but may someone help me on similar theme.
My old GTX560 burned, and I'm getting replacement GTX750. Please don't discuss if cards are good or not. Just want to know which drivers series to get for it. I kept using 314 for GTX560 due countless problems with newer ones, but I don't know which are last "safe" drivers for GTX750.

Newer nVidia drivers typically have problems with older cards. My old GTX460 SLI configuration suffered from the 306 and 310 driver range while the 314 worked fine. Now with my GTX660 SLI configuration I haven't had any problems with the recent driver releases.

I think the same will be the case for your GTX560 and certain drivers, while the GTX750 might be running fine with the latest drivers available.

Try to install chipset driver first (only the first package), then graphical driver.
