Why do we need to give a thanks in the comments on every post giveaway we entered?

To show a little respect maybe!

I don't do it on EVERY GA, but any GA that has a significantly off numbered thanks for entries I do. It's just nice to thank someone for something they don't have to do. I also don't do it for people who are advertising for votes or whatever, they're doing it to get exposure (which they are getting) and we help them for their offer.

I didn't realize that you need to do anything on this site (except maybe read the FAQ).

Seriously though, it's good manners to thank the giveaway creator, but you don't have to.

You don't need to. Some people are just in the delusion that a better entry/comment ratio raises their chances of winning. Some people even use addons to write thanks automatically on GAs.

I never do it, I guess i'm just a ponce that way, but it really is a waste of time.

I thank people for creating the giveaway. If I actually win the giveaway, I get a second chance to thank them. Sometimes, I thank people for creating giveaways that I don't even enter. I do it to express my appreciation for the time, effort, and (usually) money the person has spent to create the giveaway.

Good manners are not required, but they help people to get along with one another. Misanthropes would disagree.

Without spam the internet would leak and be draughty. It insulates and protects content by keeping nodes from freezing in winter too.

I dunno, how you have been educated, but I learned from childhood on to be polite and say thanks. Its just politeness. I would like to reroll every1, who isn't grateful. I don't give a fuck about spam ^^ A small thanks, ty or whatever, even if automated by script is rather nice, but thats only my opinione/pov.
