Why did you join Steam?

They were distributing free Portal on Steam.So I joined, grab a copy for myself and I became a slave of Steam.

Got bored of WoW, and wanted to start the new year with something different.

I joined cause I wanted to get into PC gaming but after signing up I didn't really bother with it for like a year and a half. Now after realizing how much cheaper games are I've built a awesome gaming machine, my first, and have made some great friends. May not bother with this next console generation cause I've never been happy with my gaming machine and community.

Friend wanted to give me Humble Indie Bundle keys and Frozen Synapse. Learned TF2 was free shortly afterward and Steam became a part of my gaming life forever (hopefully).

I wanted to check out CS 1.6 so I had to join!

Although I no longer have access to that Steam account, that e-mail or any of the retail games I had activated on it.

Because I won Deus Ex HR in a contest on youtube.Before that I've never really liked steam in the past,now I can't live without it.

I bought a retail copy of Portal 2. It forced me to create a steam account to actually play the game.

I can't really remember. Now I use primarily for the good offers. :)

I'm still a Steam Noobie, I can't even use the Community Market yet :-(. But, I joined because a lot of people basically say "PC Gaming is the best", since joining the PC side I've also noticed the sweet deals and the chance to win games for free (here :D). I'm having a lot of fun on the PC so far and I've found a nice bunch of awesome PC Exclusive games!

I joined Steam to meet girls. LOL

CoD Mw3 made me download steam but I like it so its not like I am hating on it :D
