My laptop screen resolution is 1366 x 768 and it looks fine but when I plug my HDMI cable into it and try and use it connected to my TV the sides are all cut off. What should I do to resolve this?

Select 1:1 pixel mapping on your tv. It might also be called "Just Scan" or "No Overscan".

change the resolution on your laptop to 1280x720 when you plug the HDMI in.
It will change the way it looks on the laptop screen, but the ratio will be correct for the TV.

Unless you're trying to use both at the same time.

No, one at a time which is easier, thank you :)

This is the best solution. Wont deal with no black bars or zoomed shots.

In your video drivers software(Well at least with Nvidia) there should be a desktop size a position tab, inside that you can fiddle with the overscan until you get it right.
