"The lead singer of electronic dance group Faithless, Maxi Jazz, has died aged 65.

In a tribute to the musician, whose real name was Maxwell Fraser, on social media, Faithless bandmates Sister Bliss and Rollo wrote: 'We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully at his home in South London last night.'

Fraser shared a video just four weeks ago on social media playing his guitar, revealing he was rehearsing new music.

'New songs,' he wrote. 'Watch out world.'

Back in March, he revealed he was battling 'health issues that had been impairing my ability to perform'.

'I thought I might be on top of things but sadly not... I'll let you know when I've regained sufficient oomph.'

The group is best known for the 1995 hit Insomnia which topped the UK dance charts and peaked at number three in the UK chart when it was re-released a year later.

Faithless wrote a number of other hit tracks together including We Come 1."

[Edit] He actually suffered massively from Insomnia, so why he made that song.

Those are terrible news for music. He and Dido were a really nice duo. "One step too far" is one my favorite Faithless songs and of course the ones you mention. May he rest in peace.

Thank you, didn't know that song, added to OP.

Dido also has a great voice (don't really hear a lot of her anymore).

I never liked Dido as a soloist but she really fit there. I'm pretty sure she's heartbroken atm.
I like this version better btw: https://youtu.be/RmL5aVlQR_8

Nope, not even that one. But don't get me wrong I'm glad she had a big success with her solo álbum, she performed in México not long ago. She has a gorgeous voice and she will be remembered one day also.

Faithless was a trio: Rollo, Sister Blis, and Maxi Jazz. Rollo was the producer, Sister Bliss DJ/musician, and Maxi Jazz the primary vocalist.
Dido was only ever a guest. She was Rollo’s little sister.

I always thought the lead singer had something to do with the music arrangements, It had that vibe. I'm guessing you follow the band way more than I do. I really liked Dido's voice there.

Depends on the lead singer.
Maxi jazz also wrote most of the lyrics, and his natural style informed the production of the music.

Now the important question: Does he get to go to heaven if he was faithless?

Damn, didn't expect to learn about this through SteamGifts. I've been a fan of Faithless since the 90s.

A combination of great music with strong lyrics and an iconic voice.

Maybe not appreciated by everyone, but i like to give a "shoutout" / note / rememberance to those that were iconic in music (and died too young).

Rest in peace.☹️ But at least Faithless' music is getting out there to more people, so they can learn of this great music and Maxi's contributions to it.

Oh come on😢 I love Faithless, and he is such a charismatic person. With that special kind of "we the people" vibe to him.

Rest well
