'sup fellow low-lifes!

This is my first summer sale and the hype really put my hopes way too high for this, but there are still some nice deals. After the sale I want to buy the few things to play my PC games on my TV with a controller and I am really craving some good ol' videogames from the time where things were better!

I will definitely buy Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior.
I am also watching out for deals on Final Fantasy 7 and Doom.

What else can you suggest? I am looking for older games, which are cheap to get and have controller support. Preferably games from the 90s or PS1 games that got ported.

I am aware of some obvious games like Tomb Raider. I hope you have some gems that I forgot.

Ys Origin isn't cheap, but it sure is worth getting.

Bastion is another great game, albeit short.

Agreed with both. In fact I think all of the Ys games on Steam are worth getting.

Not a big anime fan but I heard good things about it and it sure looks good! Will keep this in mind! Thanks.

How about the sonic games? They're definitly old. At least most of them.

Yes, Sonic! Good suggestion! I have the first and I think the second Sonic game on my 360 tho.

I have the original one for sega, even thought I don't own one. Bought it for a friend who turned out already had it.

Not definitely old, but oldschoolish, works with controller like a charm: Trine 1 and 2, check them out :)

Both great looking games, will definitely watch out for good deals on those, but for now I am looking for games that have are literally old school.

Check out ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West <--my review , which is on sale for $6.79 right now. Definitely a hidden gem!

+1.

Played the PS3 version a few years ago, it's definitely worth playing.

Played the 360 demo back in the day and really enjoyed it, but I never really got to buy it or forgot to over time. Only downside to my current craving: 360 ≠ PS1. :3

Not a game recommendation, but if you're unfamiliar with it, be sure to check out gog.com (Good Old Games) which specializes in older games (patched and improved for modern machines). And better support than Steam. They're on the tail end of their Summer Sale still, as well.
Good luck!

Actually yes, I am. I knew about it tho, but I think I forgot about it.
Do the games have controller support and such?

As far as I know, if the Steam version does, then the GOG version would. Unless is some kind of "Steam Special Edition." Of course, lots of old games don't have controller support-- some don't even have mouse support, y'know?

Duke Nukem is so much cheaper there.

What about the Legacy of Kain games? They're dirt cheap and old, but you'll have to use xpadder for controller support.

I've been eyeballing them for a time now. Played them on PS1 and have a PC copy here but it won't run on my OS tho.

What about the old Star Wars Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games? I don't think they necessarily lend themselves to controllers. Or maybe the F.E.A.R. series or the original Far Cry?

I think we're on the same page so far! Wanted to buy the Star Wars games for a long while now. Mysteries of the Sith already bought. Owning Jedi Knight II physically.
Got F.E.A.R. for the 360 and the original Far Cry wasn't really my thing. Far Cry 2 and upwards was tho, but I'd say they're still a bit newer than what I am looking for except the Star Wars games.

I guess it's not available in Germany because I can't search for it, but I loved me some Unreal Tournament 2003. I would probably get ripped apart these days. Haven't played for years.
