who likes compatition i dont
i was thinking before getting awesome games on origin which i got for free battlefield bad company and 1942
question why a one of greedies game company give you free games
answer because they want some of steam's market share
people say origin sucks that i aggree
but if it hadnt been for origin we wouldnt get serios discounts even free games
and when you buy ea game on steam you get 1 for your friend on origin that you could play online(people say that but i dont know if really works)

so what you think? i think origin is a good think will because of the compatation we get discounts on bolth platforms in future i believe

Origin isn't nearly as horrible as people make it out to be. It does all the core functionality that Steam does. Buy games. Keeps games updated. Friends list. And it does a pretty good job of all those.

As I have always said the problem isn't that the core Origin product is bad, it's that Steam from a function perspective is far more advanced. Game trading, achievements, better integrated community features, Workshop, and that's just on the user side. DEVELOPERS love Steam! Why? Because it means they don't have to

1) Create a separate match making infrastrcture
2) Don't have to create an anti-cheat mechanism
3) API to put achivements into games
4) free bandwidth
5) fast turn around of patches
6) A SINGLE place to implement patches
7) Can still sell your game on any store you want

For these reasons and more, are why developers are using Steamworks and thus Steam more. Which funnels more users to steam, which generates more sales, etc. Until Origin gets stuff that DEVELOPERS want like EA achivements at the base level, they're just going to be 'another digital store' no matter how many promos they do.
