Coming soon: bundle pricing is in your local currency
Today, we’re making purchasing more consistent across our store, bundles and Humble Choice by introducing regional pricing for all of our bundles. The following currencies are supported for bundles: EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, TRY, RUB, and PHP.

Please note, for live bundles launched before today, the currency is still in USD.
https://blog.humblebundle.com/2020/02/10/announcing-regional-pricing-for-bundles/

*Classic users are unaffected for this regional price change:

There are no regional prices for classic and it will remain $12USD + applicable taxes.
The only way a Classic subscriber will see or receive regional pricing is if they cancel their subscription and then purchase a Choice subscription (Lite, Basic, Premium) the following month.

Not one south american currency. But we still have region locks on games, right?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No kidding. Also, taking a look around this thread shows most countries affected have no problem at all buying with USD. Most people are complaining because the price will increase with their regional currency. But for South America, not only it's a hassle to buy with USD, it usually takes a lot of extra fees such as international card fees and paypal fees, and that's combined with the ridiculous 4-1 average ratio of conversion of our currencies to USD. So they screw people over while not helping those who could actually benefit from regional currency.

TBH I'm surprised that this hasn't happened sooner. The VAT for EU purchases has been coming out of their margin for years, and this is a convenient way to reduce that cost in a subtle way that they can put a positive spin on.

You know that VAT is changeable for every product ?

You have A priced Vat (alcohol, smokes), B lower VAT (pharmacy), C much lower VAT (made in your country), No vat (technology, videogames), depends on what are you buying.

Every country is different, most poor countries don't have VAT on video games.

Every country outside E.UNION but located in Europe.

You can check on gamivo dot com when your game is in cart, for every Union country there is VAT in different percentages, but outside Union is 0%

First, let's get back to those official sources/documents of European countries with 0% VAT on videogames.
Second, it doesn't mean that VAT outside of EU is 0%, only that you can lie about your location if you live in EU and not pay it...
Go to you local videogames shop and ask what real VAT rate is. At least they will have a laugh.

Yes they do. Not just games but all kinds of DIGITAL goods, like software and subscriptions.

Physical copy is different story but digital products have no VAT whatsoever (cause they don't go through customs and stuff like that)

I'm fairly certain we have double or even triple VAT.

For example Nintendo switch costs 420 euros here. From what i understand its about 300 in Germany.

Though i guess it may not be tax, just that everyone is corrupt and takes a cut of the sales of nearly everything, not just electronics

You just misunderstood the data. The first column shows the value of $1 and the second is the inverted value. They don't represent the range the Euro is moving in between, as you suggested. The Euro really never was worth less than US$1.

The Euro really never was worth less than US$1.

Not true, you'd just have to go way back. Around 2000 it was roughly the other way round to the current exchange rate. With the dollar being worth more than the Euro. See:

It's not a min/max table. The first column is the value in other currencies. The second column is the exchange rate (1USD/1st column value). 1USD worth 0.91 EUR and for 1 EUR I'll get 1,09 USD.

It's not like I even care any longer, since Humble Choice "Classic" is still being charged in USD. They backpedaled swiftly when they saw threats of people cancelling their Choice subscriptions.

As for the Humble "weeklies", they've been so lame in the past year, that I barely bought even Tier 1 on some of them, nevermind purchasing Tier 2 or 3. They know where to shove the new currency rates.

For people from the EU who doesn't use EUR (such as me from Sweden), this change is just bad. We still have to pay for currency conversion AND get a worse exchange rate on top of that (Humble's). People from countries who use EUR doesn't have to pay conversion rates from their CC anymore.

At first I thought "at least 1 euro would be better than switching to 10 SEK" but then you realize, other currencies are so expensive nowadays so it's pretty much the same price. But yeah, I'm just tired of having euro forced on me in general. Hopefully it isn't as bad as what Fanatical does.

I can confirm that I pay more that I should with a simple exchange rate. At the moment, 12$ = 11€. But for this Humble Choice, I paid 11.43€.
Since I'm curious, I checked my previous purchases, because in my mind, a Monthly was about 10.50€. For the record, I use PayPal, that might be the reason why I pay that little extra.

My Monthlies from 2019 :
December : 9.46€ (with a 2$ voucher, so 11.XX€ full price)
November : 11.29€
September : 8.43€ (with a 3$ voucher, so 11.XX€ full price)

My Monthlies from 2018 :
September : 10.67€
August : 10.61€
July : 10.64€
June : 10.62€
March : 10.05€
February : 10.32€
January : 10.53€

My Monthlies from 2017 :
October : 10.46€
June : 10.01€ (nice !)

So basically 10.XX€ in 2017 and 2018, and boom, 11.XX€ in 2019 and 2020.
