in the news:

YouTube is investing $20 million toward educational content through its new Learning Fund program.
...Channels like TED-Ed, dedicated to educational Ted Talks, and Hank and John Green’s Crash Course have already secured additional funding
...YouTube’s Learning Fund has a nice ring to it, but it isn’t a philanthropic charity

We may not all become scientists or professional chefs by learning through videos, but we can promise that anyone who wants to learn and teach will have ever greater opportunities to do so on YouTube.

YouTube is as great for avoiding learning anything as it is great for helping you learn anything, haha.

Many of the channels on there (CrashCourse comes to mind, amazing channel) have helped me a ton when I needed it, I think it's awesome they are putting focus on using YouTube for educational purposes. Their platform is great for it, reading through paragraphs will never help me begin to grasp concepts like a short and to the point informative video does.

I try to avoid the TED talks and other such channels on YT as they inevitably lead to my morning alarm ringing while I'm still watching videos (learning is a bit of a rabbit hole for me) so it's good to know that YT just made it harder to resist.
I'm sure there's going to be a massive uprising from all the make-up tips vloggers, YT singers and "why cant I get my own video game like Pewdie Pie" youtubers who also want funds but I don't care.
Nice move, Youtube.
