I'm currently interested in Corsair K70, I mean just look at it, but I would have to seriously slash my budget for a mouse to get one of these.

Otherwise the Rosewill seems to be good enough, but that huge Rosewill logo is just distracting.

I'm open to all suggestions, as long as the keyboard has

  • a full size keyboard, numpad and everything
  • Cherry MX Brown (preferably) or Reds
  • Backlight is optional

I live in Singapore and they only seem to sell CoolerMaster and Razers everywhere I go. Sigh.

Edit: Steelseries 6Gv2 seems to be a good choice, time to hunt around for prices, although they seem to cost the same as the K70s.

I'd go with the Rosewill, great quality keyboard.
I dont recommend buying either coolermaster or razer though, i have had both and the keys get worn down really fast on both of those(paint chipping of the keys)

For the corsair i have no personal experience, but since this one also has (painted) backlit keys it will probably have the same paint chipping issues.

I'm using the Corsair K70 for half a year now and I had no issues so far. I highly recommend it but it sure depends on what exactly you are looking for.

It's well made (not out of some cheap plastic which will look like a 20$ keyboard), has some extra features like backlight, multimedia keys, wrist rest (in case you are interested in them) and I'd say it's affordable compared to other known keyboards.

What's wrong with the Coolermasters?

I was actually going to recommend the QuickFire Rapid Pro, but...no dedicated num pad. That was the one thing I wasn't sure if I'd miss. I rarely do, but on occasion I wish I had it back.

Otherwise, I love this thing. Browns as well.

OP, have you ever touched a set of Cherry MX Reds?
If you have, and like them, go for them.
If you haven't though, I tend to highly advise against them. I bought a mechanical keyboard, and ended up going with one that had Reds in it. I hate them. The lack of tactile feedback, and the ridiculously low activation weight means that I didn't even end up with something that worked to avoid the clacking keys that are why I avoided the Blues. Basically every keystroke bottoms the keys out, and sometimes I deal with just having my fingers in place resting provides enough pressure to activate keys.

So in the end, I utterly loathe and detest these Reds. I heavily advise, from experience, that anyone (especially gamers) go with either Black or Brown instead. The Reds are horrible. Of course if you have issues with hand & wrist weakness or injuries where the lower activation pressure is of benefit, I'm sure that would change things significantly. Otherwise, avoid the Reds.

Go with Ducky and never look back.
I have one of thse with brown switches and an orange backlight. There are cheaper ones with no backlight and more expensive ones with fancy customizable backlight.

Rosewill is well known for making quality keyboards........not. Go with the brand that knows what it's doing....and make absolutely sure you're getting the type of switch you want in a gaming keyboard.

It's not mechanical but the microsoft sidewinder x6 is a pretty good and cheap keyboard. The numpad can be removed and connected either left or right side. Personally I like to have my numpad connected to the left of the keyboard.

Thanks for all the comments, they have been very helpful. Wouldn't hurt to get more opinions though.

The Model S Professional from Das Keyboard is imo the best one:

http://www.daskeyboard.com

Or the "4 Professional" if you like the media keys and volume knob.

But there are very expensive and not easy to find in many regions. I bought a cheaper Quick Fire XT instead (with brown switches.) I'm happy with it. But I really wanted the Das. Pity it's impossible to find where I live.
