How important are achievements to you in Steam games?

View Results
Very important - I'm an achievement hunter
Somewhat important - Nice to have
Indifferent - I don't pay much attention
Not important - I play for fun, not achievements

I usually ignore achievements, the only 2 cases i focus in achievements:
-some type of reward tied to doing achievements in a game i am enjoying;
-every once in a while there is a game that catches my interest on a different level, so i might get attached to it long enough to get everything done.

While it's ok when there's no achievements, my monkey brain definitely triggers when an achievement pops off. I'll sometimes even chase some simpler achievement, but generally I'm not a completionist.

Achievements make me turn the very last stone and discover the most hidden corner in a game. It gives a huge motivation to git gud and try even the hardest challenges.

100% this. forces me to turn an 8 hour game into 30 hours if thats what it takes. devs should always add achievements to raise the playability of their game

Depends on the achievments tbh ... if you add trash like play the game in early access, only onlice achievments where the server are offline, if achievments are only possible to drop with dlc or are just time consuming i'd rather have no achievments. sometimes the achievments gives you hints if you may missed a point of interest or small challenges ... thats something i like more

Achievements on Steam aren't worth anything, since they can just be easily cheated. It's rare for me get 100% on achievements in Steam. I am a trophy hunter on Playstation tho. 127 Platinums & 130 100% completed games as of right now.

Also, nice for your 127 platinums ! :)

I have trouble understanding people cheating overall tbh but yeah there's literally 0 possible fun in just "activating achievements" maybe it makes them feel proud as if they really did them ? I really don't know lol

The fact there are people who care so much about achievements makes ME lose faith in humanity...

I'm glad I don't need achievements in games to get satisfaction in life...oh btw an opinion can't be right or wrong if it's an OPINION, it's subjective, not objective.

Where's the option "I'm scared of achievements, it's daunting to start a game that has them."? ;c

I generally don't care about achievements unless:

  • It is something easy compared to what I'm already doing or I'm already close to getting the achievement, especially if it's a a rare global <5% achievement

  • It comes wth an in game reward or incentive

  • I naturally make most achievements and there's only a few left that aren't time sucks to get all achievements

Don't really need them, but they make me consider more ways how to play game, otherwise I would do same decisions and builds in rpgs.
