Just a discussion topic to see what people think. I play a lot of obscure and devalued titles. So without further ado my choices for the most underrated games:

  1. Alpha Protocol
  2. Bionic Commando
  3. Dark Sector
  4. Duke Nukem Forever
  5. Prince of Persia (2008)
  6. The Darkness
  7. The Club
  8. Singularity
  9. Timeshift
  10. Naughty Bear (It's not "good", but it's not as bad as some people said it was)

So, what are your most underrated games? By reviews or by sales.

Alan Wake is awesome, haven't beaten it yet, no time to. I think I'll play it next weekend :P

Alan Wake was great, but i'm not entirely sure you can say it was underrated. Obscure and amazing? Yes.

Believe me, this game is underrated.

ya it was definitely underrated. critics called it a cheesy ripoff of stephen king when it was a cheesy satire making fun of stephen king and twilight zone. anyway i thought it was hilarious and the dodge mechanic never got old.

That doesn't work that way, you have to say why it is, just because it's not popular doesn't mean it's underrated.

Alan Wake got in overall positive reviews, I wouldn't call it underrated.

I would like "Sanctum" to be added to that list.

Well, that list up top is my list. But feel free to make your own XD Also, I've heard good things about Sanctum, though I haven't tried it myself (Not a big TD guy).

Is L4D really underrated? It's got a metacritic of 89. Otherwise, good list.

Analogue: A Hate Story now in indieroyale so everyone can get it cheap. More of an interactive book than a game but it's nice for a good read

  4. N2O (I seriously feel like I'm the only person who knows what this game even is)
  5. Dark Sector

Had to look up N2O. Wow, that IS an obscure choice.

I just realized, I COMPLETELY skipped over the "this generation" part of the question, which throws out N2O...

I guess I'll just put "Vandal Hearts: Flames Of Judgement" instead.

Singularity? That game had an excellent intro, but about halfway through, it became so friggin bad.

So many unnecessary ways to just instantly kill all people with TIME.

You are a brony but you list Bionic Commando in your top 10 which I approve, the universe is in balance.

I really thought Legendary was underrated. Despite the terrible characters, and sub standard graphics (only in certain places), the gameplay and level design were really good. Even the length of the campaign was decent!

Always bet on Duke!

I like campaign, I like multiplayer, I like The Doctor Who Cloned Me add-on.

The game is awesome even when it could be much, much better.

I´d put Nier and Enslaved on top of my list.. both are on my "best games ever" List and both are pretty much ignored by the public.
Its nice to see the Duke on your list ^^ The game was just as much overhyped beforehand as it was underrated later. I had my fun with it and if you like the Duke, you pretty much got everything you ever wished for ^^ I guess most people just hate it, because their expectations where to high. It was a descent game, not too great, but still lots of fun.

Apha Protocol is another story.. most official ratings i´ve seen were very fair (~60-70%), because it has sooo many downsides that destroy a lot of the fun and have to be considered to rate a whole game.. but it was underrated in the sense of "public awareness", because it has so many upsides and unique and great ideas in it.. I wish they´d make another game like this at some point.. with better gameplay and controls, this could´ve been easily one of the best games ever.. but as it is, its just an interesting game with great ideas, characters and storytelling but bad gameplay.

I agree, I loved Nier and Enslaved, they were extremely fun to play, and had nice stories. It sucks that Cavia is now gone, I liked their games, even though they never got very popular.

As for Alpha Protocol, the idea was good, but the gameplay put me off so much I couldn't get past the second level. It was just terrible, and yet I really can see that it could have been so much more.

And what I would say are the most underrated games this generation? MagnaCarta II and Infinite Undiscovery. I truly enjoyed those games from beginning to end.

I think Siren Blood Curse is the most underrated game this generation, it was the only survival horror game released on this generation's consoles, and one of the best in class. Runner ups include Risen, Gothic 3, Singularity and The Darkness.

Definitely Alpha Protocol is on top of the list. Despite being original and awesome, had cold receive.

Gotta agree with you on Bionic Commando as well. Not sure if The Darkness wasn't well received, but yeah, it's also a good one.
