Is Risk of Rain 2 worth buying?

Yes

On my end, it depends on what you expect. I played about 60h, had lost of fun at the beginning, but I don't feel it has the replayability of other rougelike titles. It gets old at some point. It still was fun playing solo and in coop.

Edit: I see it's on sale on some keyshops, so for 4$/4€ it is worth it.

Basically what KombajnKosiciel said. Me and a friend tried it during it's free weekend but quickly got bored of it (entirely possible we didn't fully experience everything the game has to offer). Look up gameplay and if you think you'll enjoy it for an extended period of time, get it.

I bought it together with a friend and we were disappointed by the lack of roguelike elements. I will not say that the runs feel the same, but there is not much progression between runs. We stopped playing after ten runs and were disappointed.

It's a roguelike, third-person shooting game, you play as a survivor and then kill the enemy on the stage to get money to open the chest which contains an item or equipment that has an effect on your survivability to progress the stage. The goal is to survive as long as possible and end it by either obliterating or fighting a final boss (different ending).
The fun part? you can feel a different experience each run by using different items and build. Like killing the enemy by just standing still? or what about killing 1 enemy to kill the entire map? or just shot a rocket that makes your PC runs 1 fps which makes it feels like a PowerPoint slide instead?

You should consider buying the DLC as well as it gives you another 2 survivors and 1 new game mode.

In my opinion, Risk of Rain 2 is a masterpiece and a beatiful work of art, you rarely see such an impeccable game by all criteria in the modern world. However, you should expect that not everyone will like it, especially if you play alone. I would say that ideally you need to play it for around 30 hours in singleplayer, and then with friends. Learn new things, read lore, discover new items, various activities and secrets, many strategies and builds, all this, coupled with incredible music, a great rather unique visual style, a great mechanics and characters, in principle, a phenomenal atmosphere and average cost and replayability makes this game is a real gem.

I do find your question kind of weird since you don't know anything about the game. It just seems like something you would want to know a bit about before making a purchase since you've mentioned you didn't have a lot to spend. It definitely is worth it if you enjoy Roguelike games. YES. It’s a high quality roguelike 3D shooter in space. Excellent ensemble of characters, enemies, items, and potential builds making every run fun! Can be tough but when you get a god run, it’s so satisfying! I have 100+ hours and I consider it a top 5 game for myself

I’m also very picky with my games and often get buyer’s remorse. Not with Risk of Rain 2. I’d buy it again if I could
